Best of Al Iaquinta on social media leading up to UFC Ottawa

Read Time:2 Minute, 39 Second

On Saturday, May 4th, at UFC Fight Night 151 in Ottawa, #4 ranked UFC lightweight Al Iaquinta will be fighting #8 ranked Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone. Here are some of Al’s best moments on social media, leading up to the fight on Saturday.

1. On March 16th, before the Cowboy fight was officially booked, Iaquinta took a stab at Conor McGregor on social media. He posted a photo to his Instagram page, with a picture of him in training, sort of looking like meme-format.

This was an interesting one because it alluded to the recent altercations between Conor and alleged ‘fans’ in Miami, Florida. It’s also a double meaning because the UFC hosted a Fight Night card in Sunrise, Florida, on April 27th. Sunrise, Florida is a city located within Miami-Dade county. Hence the “When You Hear Conor Only Fights In Miami.”

2. On March 27th, Iaquinta posted another photo to his Instagram page, featuring himself and Cowboy Cerrone on SportsCenter. In the photo, it looks like they’re both having a good time, smiling, etc. Doesn’t seem like any bad blood is there with these two. Good to see that.

I’m sure that this caption was alluding to the fight being made official. The photo was likely taken just after the fight was sealed and signed.

3. On March 29th, Iaquinta posted a photo of him and UFC lightweight/welterweight Michael Chiesa to his page. It looks as though they had been through some intense sparring and training.

In the caption, Iaquinta references their time on The Ultimate Fighter together.

More good vibes!

4. On April 12th, he posted another photo to his Instagram, with UFC Lightweight/Welterweight and long-time rival Kevin Lee’s face pasted on a woman’s body. The words on the picture say, “We can do it!” And the woman is flexing her bicep.

A rather mysterious post but otherwise effective jab at rival Kevin Lee here. Al was referencing the phrase that Lee kept using during the build-up to their rematch, “He’s just the Same Al.”

The phrase is basically Al’s to use now, being that he defeated Lee in their rematch. He now holds 2 wins over Lee so it seems he likes to shove that in his face as much as humanly possible. Classic stuff!

5. Most recently, on April 28th, Iaquinta posted a photo to his Instagram, with himself and many other members of his fight team in the gym. In the very center of the photo, you see Al, shirt off, in a warrior-like stance, looking like he’s ready for war.

Al is definitely ready to go for his fight with Donald Cerrone this Saturday. He seems to be in good spirits, based on his posts to social media. I am looking forward to seeing him back in the Octagon!
