Collin Anglin ‘ready for five rounds’ at Lights Out 8, ‘but it won’t get that far’
As the schedule and matchups are being worked on for Dana White’s Contender Series this summer, Michigan prospect Collin Anglin is ready to throw his name in the proverbial hat.
Before he can do that, Anglin will fight for his first pro title in his home state.
The 27-year-old Anglin (7-1) will look to extend his winning streak to seven fights when he meets Mike Taylor in the main event of Lights Out Championship 8. The event takes place May 2 at the Deltaplex Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich. In the co-main event, Amanda Bobby Cooper will attempt to take a step towards a UFC return when she faces Pamela Boveda Aguirre for the vacant women’s bantamweight strap.
Last week, Anglin caught up with The Scrap to discuss the opportunity at his first pro title, what he took away from his most recent TKO win for WXC against Will Frost, how a lawn sign lead to the crazy story of getting into MMA, his familiarity with Mike Taylor, fighting on the same card as teammate Amanda Bobby Cooper — who is also fighting for a pro title for the first time — how he sees the fight playing out, eyeing a Contender Series spot, and more.
