Demian Maia vs. Anthony Rocco Martin reportedly in the works for UFC Minneapolis

Combate is reporting that former UFC title challenger, Demian Maia (26-9) will take on the surging Anthony Rocco Martin at UFC Minneapolis this summer.

Maia, 41, has been with promotion for 12 years. He recently got back into the win column when he easily submitted former Bellator champion, Lyman Good in the first round in February. The victory snapped a three-fight losing streak for the grappling ace who had fallen to the likes of then-champion, Tyron Woodley and current welterweight king, Kamaru Usman.

Martin, who is 8-4 since joining the UFC back in 2014, is currently on a tear. 2018 saw him win three in a row and pick up a couple of flashy finishes over Jake Matthews and Ryan LaFlare. So far this year, Martin has earned a unanimous decision over another jiu-jitsu standout in Sergio Moraes. With a four-fight win streak and much steam behind him, a win here could boost Martin up the ranks in the shark tank that is the UFC welterweight division.

UFC Minneapolis goes down June 29th at the Target Center in Minnesota. The event will be headlined by a rematch between Tyron Woodley and Robbie Lawler. The pair first met in 2016 when Woodley first captured the gold by knocking out Lawler in the first round.

The card also features a rematch between flyweight contenders. Jussier Formiga will be looking for revenge when he is once again locked in the cage with Joseph Benavidez. Benavidez won the first matchup back in 2013 via first round TKO.
