Dream boxing matches that fans would love to see happen in 2020

2020 marks the beginning of a new decade and boxing cards are being announced for the new year. With that, some dream matches come to mind that everyone would love to see happen in 2020.
Here are some of the top picks.
Deontay Wilder vs. Anthony Joshua
First off, Deontay Wilder (42-0-1) needs to get through Tyson Fury on February 22. Wilder has held the WBC heavyweight title since 2015. The 34-year-old is known for his punching power and has knocked out or retired all of his opponents except for Fury and Bermane Stiverne (first fight). To compare the two fighters, “The Bronze Bomber” knocked out Dominic Breazeale in one round while Joshua took seven rounds to do the same.
Joshua’s punches are powerful so he may not have trouble breaking Wilder down and later dominating him. Joshua might have fewer fights, but many of those were for titles. The 23-1 Brit is looking at two mandatory orders right now with IBF ordering him to fight Kubrat Pulev from Bulgaria and the WBO ordering him to face Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk. Joshua lost his WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles last year in June to Andy Ruiz. He would regain them the same year in Saudi Arabia in December.
Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Devin Haney
At 32-years-old, Vasyl Lomachenko (14-1-0) is highly regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter in professional boxing.
Last year, in only his 12th pro contest, “Hi-Tech” won his third world title at a different weight. The Ukranian has amazing footwork and technique combined with explosive punches. The southpaw will first fight IBF champion, Teofimo Lopez, in a unification bout that would crown an undisputed champion of the lightweight division.
Devin Haney beat Alfredo Santiago in November at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Haney (24-0) posts a record of 15 wins by knockout. At only 21-years-old “The Dream” became the mandatory challenger to Lomachenko after he defeated Zaur Abdullaev in September. Haney is currently ranked No. 1 at 135 pounds by the WBC and No. 2 by the IBO.
Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford
Terrence Crawford (36-0) may be the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
The undefeated 32-year-old unified the 140-pound division and has won his last five bouts by knockout facing opponents such as Egidijus Kavaliauskas, Amir Khan, and Jose Benavidez Jr. The main hurdles standing in the way of Crawford being considered the undisputed pound-for-pound champ is Errol Spence Jr. and the barrier that keeps the PBC and Top Rank fighter from facing each other.
Errol Spence Jr. (26-0) is currently ranked the world’s fourth-best active pound for pound by BoxRec. “The Truth” had two decision wins against Shawn Porter (30-3-1) and Mikey Garcia (39-1) in 2019. The 30-year-old welterweight has a knockout-to-win ration of 80 percent.
In October 2019, Spence Jr. was seriously injured when he crashed a Ferrari near downtown Dallas, Texas. Thankfully he is doing well and announced he will return to boxing this year.
Jamel Herring vs. Carl Frampton
Former super-bantamweight and featherweight champion Carl “The Jackal” Frampton recently returned to the ring and voiced his desire to become a three-division champion. The 32-year-old suffered fractures in both hands during his fight with Tyler McCreary in November. The Irishman became the IBF featherweight champ in 2014 as well as becoming a two-weight world champion when he beat Leo Santa Cruz in 2016.
Jamel “Semper Fi” Herring (20-2) is the WBO world super featherweight champ. He beat mandatory challenger Lamont Roach (19-0-1) by unanimous decision last November. The 34-year-old also holds unanimous decision wins against Masayuki Ito, Adilson Dos Santos, and John Vincent Moralde.
So far this is the one that we are most likely to see in boxing. Talks are in the works for this bout to happen in June or July this year after Frampton has fully recovered from his injuries.
