Pro Wrestler of the Month: Adam Cole is always a highlight of NXT every week

Read Time:1 Minute, 42 Second

Every month I look at the past 30 days of wrestling and pick one superstar that stood out above the rest.

Adam Cole is always fantastic on the mic and, along with the Undisputed Era, is always a highlight of NXT every week.

My pick for the month of August is based off of one match. While that seems like a thin reason, if you saw the match, you know it’s justified.

At NXT TakeOver: Toronto, Adam Cole defended his NXT Championship against Johnny Gargano in a 2/3 Falls Match. From bell to bell, this match was absolutely amazing, and it was easily their best yet.

The fall that really made this match, was the final one.

The third fall was essentially a Steel Cage Match, but the cage was full of weapons (think Full Metal Mayhem from TNA). The two used the weapons creatively and both took a dive off the cage (barely) crashing through a table. There have been other superstars that have made big impacts this month like Sasha Banks. But, I simply could not overlook this match.

I do come to you with a bit of bias. I was at TakeOver: Toronto and seeing it in person was even crazier. I feel like Cole and Gargano are kind of under-appreciated in the ring and this match reminded us of how good they really are. With NXT going head to head with AEW in the coming weeks, they need these kinds of performances. It’s matches like these that will set them apart.

This match could go against any AEW match in the recent months. This was one of the best matches this year and Adam Cole is having a great run as champion. Therefore he is the Pro Wrestler of the Month.
