2025 WWE Royal Rumble: How To Watch, Match Card, Predictions

Read Time:6 Minute, 42 Second

The Royal Rumble is one of WWE’s most highly anticipated annual events. Not only is the lead up full of surprises, rumors, and exciting returns, it serves as the official Road to WrestleMania kickoff. With its signature 30-person over-the-top-rope battle royals, the event not only delivers surprises and unforgettable moments… It also determines who will headline The Grandest Stage of Them All.

The stakes are always high, and with this being the 38th edition of the Royal Rumble, fans can expect another night of intense action, shocking returns, and career-defining performances. This year’s event will take place on February 1, 2025, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. It will set the stage for what promises to be an unforgettable night in WWE history.

The match card is already generating buzz. However, what makes this year even more special is that John Cena will officially kick off his retirement tour. With surprises always a guarantee, and championship implications on the line, the 2025 WWE Royal Rumble is shaping up to be an event you can’t miss.

Women’s Royal Rumble

30 women will battle once again for a career-changing opportunity. With championship gold on the line, the stakes couldn’t be higher. WWE’s top Superstars step into one of the most unpredictable matches of the year.

With surprise entrants always a possibility, the field remains wide open for anyone to make history. The following Superstars have declared for this year’s 30-Woman Royal Rumble Match:

  • Bayley
  • Liv Morgan
  • Bianca Belair
  • Naomi
  • Nia Jax
  • Charlotte Flair
  • Lyra Valkyria
  • Ivy Nile
  • Raquel Rodriguez
  • IYO SKY

Quick Picks:

  • Mishal: Bianca Belair
    • Runner Up: Charlotte Flair or Jordynne Grace

Having two hard-to-predict Rumble’s goes to show the unpredictability of WWE’s current booking. This, much like the men’s, has a chance to be star-studded with returns, debuts, and surprises. Few clear winners are in this field of women. But, none other are a more exciting choice than Bianca Belair. Things are pointing at a dream matchup vs. Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania.

  • Joey: Charlotte Flair
    • Runner Up: Becky Lynch

Bianca Belair is not the most exciting choice, considering she’s wrapped up in a storyline with Naomi and Jade Cargill. We also still have yet to find out who attacked Jade or how involved Bianca Belair is. All things are pointing at Jade Cargill vs. Bianca Belair at some point. Do we get it at WrestleMania? It’s possible. That’s why Charlotte Flair winning makes all the more sense. To me, it’s equally, if not more, exciting than anyone else winning. Charlotte can become the first 2x Women’s Royal Rumble winner. It will also catapult her into a star-studded WrestleMania main event with Tiffany Stratton. There’s just no way The Queen is not part of The Show of All Shows.

Tag Team Championship 2-out-of-3 Falls Match

#DIY (C) vs. Motor City Machine Guns

WWE Tag Team Champions, #DIY, will put their titles on the line against the former champions. They take on Motor City Machine Guns in a grueling 2-out-of-3 Falls Match. With championship gold and personal pride at stake, this showdown promises to be a battle for the ages.

Despite Johnny Gargano’s deep history with Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin… He ultimately chose loyalty to Tommaso Ciampa over his past allies. Reuniting under their signature ruthless style, #DIY dethroned MCMG to capture their second WWE Tag Team Championships. Will they prove their dominance, or will the Motor City Machine Guns reclaim their place at the top?

Quick Picks:

  • Mishal: Motor City Machine Guns

Giving this the PLE slot it so rightfully deserves is enough of a win. But, adding the 2-out of-3 Falls stipulation gives it the potential to be an early Match of the Year candidate. It’s a guaranteed classic that likely adds to the short, but incredible resume of MCMG this early in their WWE run.

  • Joey: #DIY

The match is going to be incredible. But, something tells me WWE is lining up Pretty Deadly to eventually take the titles. With that in mind, they are going to need to take it off of a heel group… And that my friends, is #DIY. I just can’t see them losing on a PLE after finally getting everything they’ve been fighting for. To think this is just the beginning of a 2025 full of tag team greatness is even more exciting.

WWE Championship Ladder Match

Cody Rhodes (C) vs. Kevin Owens

Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens are set to collide in a high-stakes Ladder Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship. With tensions reaching a boiling point, both men are determined to leave Indianapolis as the one true champion.

Rhodes secured a victory over Owens at Saturday Night’s Main Event, but the aftermath sent shockwaves through the WWE Universe. Owens delivered a brutal Package Piledriver to the champion, leaving him medically unable to compete and seizing the Winged Eagle WWE Title for himself.

On the Dec. 27 edition of SmackDown, Rhodes made his return and issued a challenge for a Ladder Match—where both titles will be suspended above the ring, and only one man can climb the ladder to claim undisputed glory. Owens wasted no time making his statement. He launched another vicious attack on Rhodes, proving he will go to any lengths to take the championship for himself.

Quick Picks:

  • Joey & Mishal: Cody Rhodes

If there was a time to pull the WWE Championship off Cody Rhodes, February 1st would be it. This feud, like its stars, are red hot. Kevin Owens is pulling off his best work in years, and Rhodes losing does nothing to damage him. It just seems impossible to imagine the champion dropping gold with so many main event possibilities still existing. Maybe we get a Randy Orton return here? Regardless of the outcome, fans get a banger of a matchup in Indianapolis.

Men’s Royal Rumble

30 Superstars get to battle for the ultimate prize—a guaranteed World Championship match on The Grandest Stage of Them All. With championship dreams on the line, the Men’s Royal Rumble Match promises high-stakes action, shocking moments, and unforgettable surprises.

A star-studded lineup has already declared for this year’s Rumble. With more names yet to be announced and surprises always in store, the field remains wide open. The following Superstars have declared for this year’s 30-Man Royal Rumble Match:

  • John Cena
  • Roman Reigns
  • CM Punk
  • Seth “Freakin” Rollins
  • Drew McIntyre
  • Sami Zayn
  • Shinsuke Nakamura
  • Logan Paul
  • Jey Uso
  • Penta
  • Bron Breakker
  • Chad Gable
  • Rey Mysterio

Quick Picks:

  • Joey & Mishal: CM Punk
    • Runner Up: John Cena or Roman Reigns

This is without a doubt, the hardest Rumble to predict in the past few years. There are well over half a dozen names that can realistically win, all of whom make sense. While John Cena could be everyone’s go-to, it seems they’re building towards him struggling to get to 17. It just seems impossible that we get that at WrestleMania this year, especially with it being right around the corner. All signs point to CM Punk, who finally has a chance to right the circumstances of 2024. Especially after the Punk-Rhodes faceoff we got on the Raw before the Rumble. It’s time… CM Punk will stamp his ticket to a long-overdue main event at WrestleMania 41.

How To Watch

Gold is on the line, and the chance to headline WrestleMania 41 will be officially up for grabs inside Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
