Dana White’s Contender Series Predictions: Season 3, Episode 4

Read Time:5 Minute, 0 Second

Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) episode 4 will air on ESPN+.

Last episode, viewers were witnesses to Contender series history. Five fights turned out five contracts, never has there been five contracts handed out in a single episode. Season 2 had plenty of nights where four fighters earned the call, but this was truly something special. It was the episode fans had been waiting for as the Contender Series made its return to its finishing ways.

It will be hard to follow up a historic performance, but there is always excitement when two fighters enter the cage with everything to gain, and everything to lose. Who is willing to put it all on the line to earn a contract?

The Scrap has predictions for the second card this season below.

Brendan Allen vs Aaron Jeffery (Middleweight)

Joel: I’m absolutely going with my boy, Aaron Jeffery. Not only has he recently captured the BTC Middleweight Championship, he trains at a solid gym, and is a real threat no matter where the fight goes. Jeffery is young and he’s the first Canadian fighter to fight on Contender Series. I fully expect him to derail the hype train via TKO to earn himself a well deserved UFC contract.

Connor: Jeffery fights out of Ontario with Rory McDonell, a championship-level camp. He will be ready for high-level competition and has show the ability to KO fighters no matter what round it is. His power is a real threat at all times, but he will take on a very well-rounded Allen. Allen has shown the ability to win fights in different ways, and he seems to be a mismatch on the mat for his opponents.

Aaron Jeffery def. Brendan Allen via TKO round 3.

Lance Lawrence vs Kevin Syler (Featherweight)

Joel: I’m a fan of both and do follow Lance Lawrence on Facebook. This is a tough one to pick. Both are going to be killers on the ground and I do expect the fight to go in the later rounds. Simply because UFC needs more Latin American stars, I’m going with Syler.

Kevin Syler def. Lance Lawrence via submission in round 2.

Connor:  Both fighters are young, exciting, and undefeated as professionals and amateurs. This is a treat. Expect there to be multiple submission attempts in this fight. Both fighters have solid ground games and viewers should be in for a high-level chess match on the mat. Lawrence will be the taller fighter in this match-up, and make sure to watch your neck, Lawrence will choke you out in any way he finds it. Syler trains at American Top Team, so you know he has an incredible choke game as well and has to defend against some of the best choke artists in all of MMA.

Kevin Syler def. Lance Lawrence via unanimous decision.

Don’Tale Mayes vs Ricardo Prasel (Heavyweight)

Joel: UFC needs some heavyweights, so I’m hoping Brazil’s Ricardo Prasel can get the job done. I’m always excited for a heavyweight clash and this one should end fairly early. From what I’ve seen, the returners are simply back because of their name so a new prospect can get an opportunity. Prasel also has an impressive record, so expect him to get the job done.

Ricardo Prasel def. Don’Tale Mayes via TKO in round 2.

Connor: It has been talked about that this will be the third time on the show for Mayes. Mayes actually won his last fight on Season 2 after losing his first appearance in Season 1. He is hoping that the 3rd time is the charm for a UFC contract. Mayes is no slouch on the ground, but Prasel has 8 submission victories. The 6’7″ Brazilian brings a high level of BBJ that rarely gets displayed at heavyweight.

Don’Tale Mayes def. Ricardo Prasel via TKO round 1.

Armando Villarreal vs Ode Osbourne (Bantamweight)

Joel: If you haven’t heard of Ode Osbourne, search him and his story. There’s no way I’m rooting against him. Ode has been coming out with some submission wins as of late, so I think come Tuesday, it will be no different.

Ode Osbourne def. Armando Villarreal via submission in round 2.

Connor: Osbourne will make a jump down to bantamweight for this fight and a chance at a contract. The fighter from Wisconsin has shown the ability to finish fights in different fashion, but he knows how to finish a choke. Villarreal is also known for finishing chokes, the rear-naked is his favorite. Both fighters will be game, and we may see some high level grappling, or we may see the respect for the ground game and neither looks to engage.

Ode Osbourne def. Armando Villarreal via TKO round 1.

Stephen Regman vs Antonio Arroyo (Middleweight)

Joel: Not sure what’s up with me this week, but I’m going against the Americans for some reason. Something tells me Arroyo is going to take it this week. Regman is a solid opponent, so it won’t be easy. He’s coming off of back-to-back-to-back finishes and his last lost comes via decision. I do believe Arroyo’s brings him into the later rounds, handing Regman his fourth loss.

Antonio Arroyo def. Stephen Regman via unanimous decision.

Connor: Arroyo loves to finish fights. The Brazilian has 4 KOs and 3 submissions to just 1 decision win. His most recent win came in a decision, which shows he has the ability to go the distance, something his first round finishes never really allowed him to show. Regman will be up to the challenge though as he also loves to finish fights, and knockout fighters. Regman has also shown that his ability to finish follows him into the late rounds with KOs and his only submission coming in round 3.

Stephen Regman def. Antonio Arroyo via TKO round 2
