Josh Emmett admits he has struggled and sacrificed his whole life to get where he is today. The UFC featherweight said the pains have been worth the effort.
Wants a Top-3 Ranked Featherweight
Emmett won his last fight against Mirsad Bektic in July. The 34-year-old is looking to get another fight in by the end of this year. He is eyeing the November 2nd card in New York or the Vegas show in December. “Vegas is just a short flight for me,” he said. For his next fight, he hopes to battle one of the top three in his division.
With another win, the Team Alpha Male prospect expects to have a title shot. Emmett currently sits at #11 in the featherweight division.
100% Dedicated
The fighter said although he began wrestling in his youth, he got into the fight game later than most. His first pro match was in 2011 at the age of 26. He explained that he is 100% dedicated to his career and making it to the upper echelons of the sport.
Full-time Job
Emmett said although fighting is a full-time job, in his time off he enjoys travelling with his wife, Vanessa. He explained that after his fights, the couple will usually take a vacation. “I enjoy good food, experiencing different cultures and seeing new things,” said Emmett. Also of great importance is hanging out with friends and family.
Training Camp
For Emmett, a typical camp consists of having a 6-day a week training schedule. He trains three times a day practicing all types of Martial Arts, Muay Thai, Boxing and Wrestling. All of that is mixed in with some running and road work, on top of strength and conditioning.
“It’s a full-time job,” says the fighter, “with overtime every week.”
