Karl Albrektsson on relaxation having brother in his corner at Bellator 268

Read Time:1 Minute, 39 Second

Bellator 268 transpires from the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday, October 16th. The broadcast goes down on Showtime featuring both semi-final bouts in the light heavyweight grand prix, a possible lightweight title eliminator bout, and more.

Even beyond the direct light heavyweight grand prix bracket, consequential matchups at 205 pounds still take place as the tournament plays out. Karl Albrektsson tests skills against Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov in a compelling clash within that aforementioned weight category.

Albrektsson is riding a three-fight winning streak leading into this battle. His opponent is a former ACA light heavyweight champion who seeks out his first Bellator MMA win. Karl Albrektsson has a pair of victories on the Superior Challenge circuit bookending his Bellator MMA victory over Viktor Nemkov. The brother of reigning Bellator MMA light heavyweight titleholder Vadim Nemkov who fights in the Bellator 268 main event.

Albrektsson is a veteran of other circuits like IRFA and Rizin FF prior to signing with Bellator. He has cracked into the top ten of the recent Bellator MMA rankings and looks to continue that win streak en route to a Bellator light heavyweight title bid eventually.

I spoke with Karl Albrektsson ahead of this upcoming bout at the Bellator 268 media day. The transcription of our interaction is below.

Karl Albrektsson

When we were speaking prior to this fight here, you were addressing the Viktor Nemkov fight. You were saying that your little brother not being able to get there and be in your corner kind of affected the performance in a certain regard. Is your brother going to be cornering you for this one? How do you expect that to inform the performance there?

Karl Albrektsson stated, “Yes. He is here at the hotel and I think it will only help my performance. I feel very relaxed this fight week and I feel very secure. So it feels like I have a good vibe going on.”
