Pro Wrestler of the Month: Chris Jericho’s title run was exactly what AEW needed
Pro Wrestler of the Month has always stayed in WWE and NXT, but this month I had go elsewhere.
Chris Jericho is the greatest wrestler of all time, and he proved it last month. Jericho was AEW’s first World Champion, and I think he was perfect for that role. He has built the company over the course of his 182 day reign. This month he built another star, Jon Moxley.
In January Jericho tried to entice Moxley to join the Inner Circle, which of course backfired. The feud between Mox and the Inner Circle over the month of February was absolutely fantastic. Jericho did not have any 5-star matches or set the world on fire in the ring, but he doesn’t need to. He is such a good bad guy that he has been the glue holding AEW together. At Revolution he dropped the title to Moxley, and cemented him as the top guy.
I felt Jericho deserved this recognition because he has been so good in AEW and he had a huge impact on the company in February. I hope he stays in AEW’s main event scene for many years to come!
