Sasha Banks & Becky Lynch: Horsewomen Explode
The Four Horsewomen have been the stars of WWE’s Women’s Division since they got called up to main roster.
All women have an extensive past in NXT, and have feuded at some point or another. One of the matches that stands out is Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch from NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable in 2014.
This match was in many ways a coming out party for Becky Lynch. It was really the start of her being an established wrestler in WWE/NXT. So ahead of WWE Hell in a Cell, the story for their feud has written itself, Sasha was always “The Boss” and Becky struggled to get on TV.
Much has changed since the two last met.
Becky became “The Man” and the star of the Women’s Division, while Sasha took time off and faded into the background. Next to the Universal Championship Match, this is my most anticipated match, which will take place inside Hell in a Cell.
If you asked me about this feud prior to Sasha’s return, I would’ve told you Becky should retain, without a doubt. However, a new layer has been added to this rivalry. Sasha is a heel, and if you watched Sasha’s NXT run, you know how good she can be when she is the bad guy.
As much as I hate to say it, Becky has become a bit stale since the departure of Ronda Rousey. When she was being challenged by both Ronda and Charlotte, there was always a threat, so it made her character more exciting. However, Ronda is gone and Charlotte is on a different brand. This has taken away any kind of threat to Becky’s title.
Sasha should absolutely win the Raw Women’s Championship.
Becky is one of those characters that is more effective when she’s chasing, as opposed to defending. A heel Sasha reigning as champion and threatening to go on another “vacation” is exactly what the Becky character needs.
Banks also needs a reign where she actually defends to re-establish her prominence. This was the perfect feud to make and is also perfect for Hell in a Cell.
