What are pro fighters asking Santa for Christmas this year?
The Christmas Season is upon us again and Santa is busy making his list and checking it twice. The Scrap’s Caroline Romero recently spoke with a few pro fighters about what’s on the top of their Santa lists this year.
Jennifer Maia – Maia competed against Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 255 for the women’s flyweight championship. The fight lasted all five rounds and ultimately Maia lost the bout by unanimous decision. The Brazilian continues to follow her dream of becoming champion and has a special request for Papai Noel. “I ask Papai Noel to give me the same energy I had this year to continue to push towards achieving my goal of being a champion”.
“Smilin” Sam Alvey – The light heavyweight last competed on Fight Island at UFC 254 in October. His fight against Da Un Jung resulted in a draw. Alvey is asking Santa for an item that he lost on his recent travels. “For Christmas I would like Santa to bring me a new Nintendo Switch (with Super Smash Brothers). I left my old one somewhere between Abu Dhabi and Las Vegas on my trip home ????.”
Orion “Galaxy” Cosce – Cosce recently won a UFC contract on Week 3 of DWCS Season 4. The 26-year-old was scheduled to fight Nicolas Dalby at UFC 255, but was forced to pull out of the bout due to an undisclosed injury. Cosce has two items on his Santa list. “I would like to recover fast so I can make my debut sooner than later for fight fans around the world… or a Lamborghini ????.”
Julio Arce – Arce has a confirmed upcoming bout against Timur Valiev at UFC Fight night on February 6. To celebrate the season and enjoy some time before the fight, the New York native has a special request for Santa. “Dear Santa ???????? -for Christmas I just want a PlayStation 5 ???? and a gaming set up”.
Kyle “Monster” Nelson – The Canadian featherweight is hoping he is on Santa’s good list. Nelson has a pretty special request from the big guy this year. “Would be pretty awesome if ol’ Santa brought me the new Luke Combs Crocs”. From Bad Bunny’s glow-in-the-dark Crocs to Justin Bieber’s neon yellow ones, the celebrity collaboration Crocs are all the rage this year. Luke Combs’ Crocs feature a super soft fuzzy lining that’s perfect for Canadian winters.
Anthony “The Genius” Romero – Romero was unsuccessful in earning a contract this year on the Contender Series after a dominant win over Mike Breeden. With a recent victory in the co-main event at LFA 96, he still has his eye at getting into the UFC in 2021. The 23-year-old lightweight has a special request for Santa this year. “For Christmas I want COVID to disappear, so families are able to get together this holiday season”.
