Conor McGregor to make acting debut in ‘Road House’ remake

Conor McGregor will be making his Hollywood debut, starring in the remake of the classic Road House alongside actor Jake Gyllenhaal.
The cast includes Billy Magnussed, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp, and Bob Menery. There is no planned release date for Amazon’s project yet. However, it is known that Gyllenhaal will play a former UFC fighter who becomes a bouncer in a Florida Keys bar.
Though McGregor’s character is still unknown, Deadline reported that McGregor would be playing an original character and not himself. The movie will go into production this month in the Dominican Republic.
If you have never seen Road House since its 1989 debut, it tells the story of a bouncer and martial arts expert (Patrick Swayze) who is hired to clean up a bar in a small Missouri town. While interest in the remake was already high, the addition of Conor McGregor will certainly garner interest. Especially fight fans… The “Notorious” one has a massive fanbase and is one of the few UFC fighters well known by the general public.
The 1989 Road House featured plenty of martial arts. So it’ll be interesting to see how they incorporate different fighting techniques in the new film. Since Gyllenhaal is playing a UFC fighter, there’s sure to be a good mix of Boxing, Muay Thai, and BJJ.
