Let’s be honest, the combat sports media space can be a bit repetitive and boring at times. Though the pro wrestling space has always been several notches ahead in terms of personalities and creativity, it has always been second to MMA on The Scrap.
When the site was started at the end of 2018, we wanted to build a place that gave people creative freedom with little rules. A place that felt like fans could have easily digestible content from a fan’s perspective. Whether it’s combat sports, pro wrestling or sports entertainment, The Scrap has always been one of the most diverse sites in media today.
In 2023, we brought on content creators from all around the world to help build one of our most well rounded teams ever. With growth in new areas, come new staff award. So we’re excited to announce our first-ever Most Creative Creator…

The 2023 Most Creative Creator: Juan Reneo
Juan Reneo has been with The Scrap since the very beginning. Not only is he the most consistent writer on the team, he has contributed the most to building our pro wrestling wing. Even though today he has help, no one has put forth more creative pro wrestling content this past year.
He gave us everything from covering the CM Punk AEW drama, to giving us historical pieces. He also gave us thoughtful opinionated articles, and coverage of the women’s divisions. To put it blunt, no one is doing it quite like Juan. His creativity is seen throughout all of his pieces and as we mentioned before, he was a no-brainer nominee for all his hard work. From a 3x Pro Wrestling Writer of the Year, to Most Creative in 2023… We can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store for our Spanish creator.
