Christian Edwards will get to test his skills against Ben Parrish at Bellator 266. The broadcast goes down on Showtime and the event emanates from the SAP Center in San Jose, California on Saturday, September 18th.
I spoke with Edwards at the pre-fight media day and the excerpt from our interaction is below.

This Ben Parrish fight has fallen by the wayside a couple of times now. Factors beyond immediate control.
But my question is, is there a level of closure associated with a fight like this? Just because you prepare multiple times for a certain opponent, now you’re finally getting out there to do it?
“Yeah, I would say so, for sure. Just because I’ve thought about freakin’ hurting this man so many times since the first time we were booked. Honestly, I’m just ready to get it out of the way and get another win under my belt. I’m not looking past him at all. I respect him as a fighter and as an opponent. But I know what I’m capable of and I believe that I’m on a completely different level. And I believe it’s going to show when we face each other in the cage on Saturday.”

Definitely, the level of focus is on your opponent like you’re saying.
But just entertaining the idea you get the ideal outcome, will you be studying the main event? Just because it’s a pretty key fight in your division or is the streamlined focus just totally on this one?
“Yeah, I mean for now it’s definitely all about Ben Parrish for sure. But that is a fight that intrigues me. Just because it’ll be interesting to see how it shapes the division depending on who wins on Saturday. Because Yoel Romero, he’s up there in age. He’s a very talented fighter and a legend in the sport but he’s up there in age. So I really don’t see him doing this much longer.”
“But Phil Davis, he’s still got a lot of gas in the tank and I know that he wants that title. He talks about it and I believe he’s still trying to win that title. So I think, I definitely am gonna pay attention to it for sure. But honestly, yeah it’s just all about Ben Parrish for now.”
