Raul Rosas Jr. is officially the youngest fighter in UFC history
Raul Rosas Jr. is officially the youngest fighter in company history. The 17 year old earned his UFC contract after a dominant performance on Dana White’s Contender Series. Rosas Jr. joins Chase Hooper, Paige VanZant, and Sage Northcutt as the only teenagers ever to sign to the UFC.
The Mexican prospect is currently undefeated (6-0) and was previously fighting under the UWC promotion. Though Hooper was signed at 19 years old, it was the first-ever developmental contract awarded on DWCS. Rosas Jr. however, skipped the developmental process altogether and was signed outright to the UFC roster.
“El Niño Problema” recently turned 17 on September 8th. He has been fighting since 2020 and went 2-0 as an amateur before turning pro in November 2021. Since, he has been on a fast track, racking up six wins, five finishes, and an eight-fight win streak. Though his success comes fairly recent, he’s been training since he was a kid, sharpening his ground and striking game early on before fighting grown men in the cage.
With his fifth win in 2022 the sky is the limit for the young Rosas Jr., who has aspirations of being a UFC champion by the age of 20. If he’s able to accomplish such feat, he’ll be the youngest UFC champion in history, finally beating the record set by Jon Jones.
What did you think of Raul Rosas Jr.’s performance on Contender Series? Who should he fight in his UFC debt? Let us know in the comments below…
