Does the WWE Hall of Fame matter?
Halls of fame are a huge part in sports and culture in the United States. They are done to celebrate the best of the best, however, one difficult hall of fame to analyze has always been WWE’s.
The WWE HOF has many reasons behind its structure and the process on who gets inducted. They tried to present their own hall of fame as the definitive hall of fame in wrestling, despite there being others like the Wrestling Observer’s, who has the best known HOF outside of WWE’s. There is even a debate between the two to see which is the ultimate pro wrestling hall of fame.
Depending on your knowledge of wrestling and affiliation with WWE, the answer is obvious…
WWE vs. WON
WWE doesn’t have a criteria on who gets in their hall of fame. But working for them at some point in a wrestler’s career helps their case on eventually getting inducted. Other criteria is based upon the relationship a wrestler has or had with WWE.
Other halls of fame in wrestling are more difficult to get into, like Wrestling Observer’s. Their criteria is based upon the MLB Hall of Fame. The WON HOF requires gathering votes (from subscribers, wrestling journalists and wrestlers), and getting on to their ballot is equally as difficult. If you don’t believe me, search for the case of Big Daddy in the WON HOF.
While celebrating any wrestler’s career is a nice touch, it defeats the purpose of real halls of fame celebrating the best of best in an industry. WWE’s could get quite political, so for wrestling fans wanting an alternative, the WON HOF is the cream of the crop.
