Who Should Win AEW’s 2025 Continental Classic?
The third edition of the Continental Classic (C2) is underway, and the big question on everyone’s mind is simple. Who’s winning the whole thing?
AEW has done a tremendous job elevating the prestige of this tournament. It has really become one of the most anticipated periods of the year for fans.
The Favorites Taking Shape
Looking at both leagues, three wrestlers stand out as the clear frontrunners: Kazuchika Okada (Gold League), Kyle Fletcher (Gold League), and Konosuke Takeshita (Blue League). What makes the race even more compelling is that all three are members of The Callis Family. So that alone adds multiple layers of intrigue to the story.
AEW has invested heavily in Kyle Fletcher’s rise, and it’s paid off. He’s become a central figure in the company’s future plans, and a C2 victory would mark the official arrival of Fletcher as a main event player. He also holds a key advantage. He has already defeated Okada in this year’s tournament, which could become crucial if things come down to tie-breakers.
One of AEW’s biggest storylines throughout 2025 has been the growing tension between Okada and Takeshita over who should lead The Callis Family. Their conflict feels destined to reach a boiling point, and the C2 finals seem like the perfect stage. In the eyes of many, they are also the two biggest favorites to advance.
If Okada vs. Takeshita does happen in the finals, Takeshita would likely enter as the favorite. A win would cap off an incredible year for him, one that already includes winning the G1 Climax and becoming IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
Still, the tournament isn’t only about those three names. Dark-horse picks like Claudio Castagnoli (Blue League) and Kevin Knight (Gold League) could very well make a surprise run. Both are worth keeping an eye on as the final standings take shape.
