Arman Tsarukyan Fires Brutal Four-Word Message at Ilia Topuria
The current lightweight division may be one of the most talked-about in the UFC right now, as champion Ilia Topuria seeks his next challenge.
UFC 317 saw Topuria send shockwaves through the whole of the UFC, as he brutally knocked out Charles Oliveira. In doing so, Topuria surpassed Islam Makhachev as the Pound-for-Pound #1.
Current #1-ranked lightweight, Arman Tsarukyan, has been trying to get Topuria’s attention through a series of provocative social media posts. However, his latest comments may be the words that finally get under the current champ’s skin.
Tsarkuyan Believes He’s a Better Striker Than Topuria
Appearing in an interview on the Jaxxon Podcast, Tsarukyan had this to say on his striking in comparison to Topuria:
“I’m better than him. My kicks, my elbows, my knees, all work together. He only has good boxing.”
The other emerging contenders for Topuria’s next fight appear to be Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett. However, UFC fans want to see Tsarukyan against Topuria as they believe the champion’s wrestling hasn’t been tested yet.
It appears that Topuria is likely to fight again before the end of 2026. But even with Tsarukyan as the #1 contender, it is still unclear as to who Topuria will defend his belt against.
Arman Fights An Uphill Battle To Earn a Title Shot
Tsarukyan is attempting to ignite interest in a potential clash with Topuria through his recent antics, but so far, they’ve failed to gain the champ’s attention.

On the other hand, Pimblett wants to fight Topuria to end a long-running rivalry. Gaethje has also hinted at retirement if he isn’t next in line for a title shot.
Tsarukyan was the backup challenger for UFC 317. This came a few months after he failed to make the walk for his first title opportunity against Islam Makhachev. Fans believe Tsarukyan lost the UFC’s trust after his pull-out, hence his efforts to weigh in as the backup for the UFC 317 main event.
Tsarukyan isn’t giving up on provoking Topuria, and his latest words may motivate the champ to prove him wrong.
