On the post-Revolution episode of AEW Dynamite, we saw a shocking debut from Jeff Hardy. As his WWE music played and he saved his brother Matt, I started to think about all the possible matches.
Off the top of my head, there are four that must happen…
Jeff Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara
After the Sammy vs. Cody ladder match a few weeks ago, I would love to see Sammy vs. Jeff. There is no doubt the two have similar styles. Sammy just dropped his TNT title and a story or even just one match with Hardy to welcome him to AEW could be incredible. The potential the match could have and the creativity of both men makes this a must-see match.
We have seen what Sammy is willing to put his body through for the fans, and we all know what Jeff is about. I get the feeling that these two would feed off of each other and blow our minds.
Jeff Hardy vs. Darby Allin
Speaking of similar styles, this is the first match that came to my mind. Darby is a slightly more extreme, young Jeff Hardy. He’s a guy who is willing to put his body on the line to make a statement and stand out on the card, which is what Jeff did early on with Matt. The potential story between these two could be incredible… Darby has even expressed interest in wrestling Jeff in the past.
When it comes to potential opponents for Jeff that could create magic, Darby is at the top of that list.
Hardy Boyz vs. Private Party
This makes the most sense for Jeff’s first feud considering that Private Party started the beat down that Jeff interrupted, after a quick dance. The Hardy’s and Private Party have actually squared off in 2017 at House of Glory. However, there is no doubt Private Party has leveled up since then. These two teams would blow the roof off any venue, especially in the AEW environment and style.
There is also a built-in story of legendary team vs. new blood. Private Party largely represents the early Hardy Boys in many ways.
Jeff Hardy vs. CM Punk
I was born in 1999, so the CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy feud was part of the peak of my love with wrestling. I was a huge Jeff Hardy fan as a child and was gutted when he lost that cage match on SmackDown and left WWE. Now that Punk is seemingly done with MJF, this would be perfect. CM Punk cut a promo on Dynamite this week suggesting that the old CM Punk is back. What better way to introduce a more gritty CM Punk than a feud with Jeff Hardy?
Not to mention with AEW seemingly being a more creative environment, who knows what these two could come up with.. Give these two a long program and let them create an incredible story.
Who would you like to see the returning Jeff Hardy face? Let me know in the comments!
