The underrated fights to watch at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

On Saturday, September 7th, the UFC will be making its way to Abu Dhabi for UFC 242: Khabib vs. Poirier.

Here are the underrated fights to watch for the fight card:

Omari Akhmedov vs. Zak Cummings

In this UFC welterweight bout, American Top Team’s Omari ‘Wolverine’ Akhmedov will be taking on Zak Cummings.

Akhmedov holds a professional record of 18-4, including 7 KOs and 5 SUB. He holds a UFC record of 6-1-3. He is 3-1 in his last four fights, including 3 decision wins and one draw. In his most recent fight, he fought Tim Boetsch at UFC Fight Night 146 and won by unanimous decision.

His opponent, Zak Cummings, holds a professional record of 23-6. His record includes 5 knockouts, 12 submissions and 6 decisions. He holds a UFC record of 8-3 and is also 3-1 in his last four fights. Those 4 fights include two submissions wins, a unanimous decision and a loss by split decision.

Both fighters debuted in the UFC around the same time and haven’t fought since early 2019. Let’s see what they have in store for us when they meet on Saturday!

Nordine Taleb vs. Muslim Salikhov

In this UFC Welterweight bout, Tristar Gym’s Nordine Taleb will be taking on Muslim ‘King of Kung Fu’ Salikhov.

Taleb holds a professional record of 15-6. This record includes 7 wins by KO and 8 decisions. He’s 6-4 in the UFC and is 3-2 in his last five, including two decisions, a knockout, and two losses by finish. In his most recent fight, he fought Kyle Prepolec at UFC Fight Night 151, where he won by unanimous decision.

His opponent, Muslim Salikhov, holds a professional record of 14-2. His record includes 11 knockouts and 2 submissions. He holds a UFC record of 1-1. In his UFC debut back in November 2017, he lost the bout by second-round submission. He was able to bounce back strong, scoring a second-round knockout in his most recent fight. Salikhov has been inactive since then, having been out of the Octagon now since April of 2018.

Ottman Azaitar vs. Teemu Packalen

In this UFC lightweight bout, Ottman ‘Bulldozer’ Azaitar will be taking on Teemu Packalen.

Azaitar holds a professional record of 11-0. His undefeated record includes 7 KO and 3 submissions. 4 of his last 5 wins have come by way of knockout. In his most recent fight, he won by first-round knockout, the fight lasted a total of 32 seconds. He typically fights at welterweight but will be moving down to lightweight for his UFC debut.

His opponent, Teemu Packalen, holds a professional record of 8-2. His record includes 2 KO and 6 submissions. He currently holds a UFC record of 1-2. His one UFC win was a first-round submission, which lasted a total of 24 seconds. He typically fights at lightweight and will be coming off a two-year layoff to welcome Azaitar into the Octagon.
