Read Time:3 Minute, 0 Second

The second round of The Ultimate Writer Season 5 is now closed. We’re officially in double elimination mode… So TUW 24 featured our true first-round matchups to determine who will join the winner’s and loser’s brackets.

If you don’t already know, The Ultimate Writer is a competition that features 12 of the best combat sports content creators around the world in a competition where article views matter. Winners this season are determined weekly and for this second round, each contestant’s highest viewed article will to head-to-head to determine the round’s winner.

The Scrap staff participating in TUW Season 5 will be competing for the grand prize of $150 and their choice of a WWE or UFC NFT (Non-Fungible Token).

See the results for TUW 24 below…

Joey Els (20,341 views) def. Steven Rae (27 views) via first-round submission

In no surprise, Joey Els absolutely obliterated Steven Rae. Ever since joining the competition, Els has been generating the largest numbers the site has seen. He has also helped build the YouTube channel immensely, bringing so many new eyes and attention. With his loss, Rae moves on to the loser bracket.

Shawn Bitter (615 views) def. Sergio Vicente (365 views) via third-round KO

This matchup ended up being closer than we thought, but Shawn Bitter was able to get the job done. He remains one of the few favorites to win this season. With the loss, Sergio Vicente joins the loser bracket with one loss left before he’s eliminated from the competition.

Dre Parsons (366 views) def. Katie Vega (176 views) via second-round submission

In the shocker of the night, Dre Parsons pulls one over the reigning queen, Katie Vega. In the last minute, a clip on The Scrap’s Instagram did the trick for Dre, who gets her first official TUW win. This is a huge win for her too! As for Katie, she’s familiar with having to fight her way back to the top. So the loser bracket better watch out…

Chris Presnell (88 views) def. Juan Reneo (84 views) via split decision

This matchup turned out to be so damn close! Chris Presnell came out with the win last minute, getting his first official TUW win. Getting through Juan Reneo is no joke either… So it’ll be interesting to see what Chris does moving forward. With the loss, Juan unfortunately joins the loser bracket having to fight his way back to the top.

Lewis Simpson (264 views) def. Dylan Bowker (7 views) via second-round KO

Lewis Simpson came in hot, destroying Dylan Bowker in this first official round. Sadly, Lewis will no longer be a part of the competition due to taking some much deserved time off. He was definitely a favorite to win it all this season too… With the loss though, Dylan joins the loser bracket with his spot on The Scrap in jeopardy due to consistent low views.

Austin Luff (8,142 views) def. Lee Brown (46 views) via first-round KO

Austin Luff left no questions, he’s here to win the show with consistent back-to-back views. When you think off front runners to win it all, look no further. His video content is what has been missing on The Scrap, and it shows in his numbers… As for Lee Brown, he will join the loser bracket. If he loses once more, he will be officially eliminated from the competition.

Below are the official winner and loser brackets for this season:
