TUW 25 Results: Els vs. Bitter

Read Time:3 Minute, 29 Second

The third round of The Ultimate Writer Season 5 has officially ended… TUW 25 highlighted our winner and loser brackets, and lead to our first eliminations of the season.

If you don’t already know, The Ultimate Writer is a competition that features 12 of the best combat sports content creators around the world in a competition where article views matter. Winners this season are determined weekly and for this third round, each contestant’s highest viewed article went to head-to-head to determine the week’s winner.

The Scrap staff participating in TUW Season 5 will be competing for the grand prize of $150 and their choice of a WWE or UFC NFT (Non-Fungible Token).

See the results for TUW 25 below…

Joey Els (54,653 views) def. Shawn Bitter (217 views) via first-round TKO.

In what could have easily been the finale matchup, Joey Els obliterates the competition yet again. His YouTube content brings massive views in, and subscribers have been requesting his song “Oh My Goodness” due to it playing in the videos… But what’s even crazier is that it’s not the highest view count this round. As for our guy Shawn Bitter, he joins the loser bracket for the first time and will have to fight his way back into the win column.

Chris Presnell (86 views) def. Dre Parsons (23 views) via third round submission.

Chris Presnell continues his epic rookie run by defeating fellow newbie Dre Parsons. His joint piece on the youngest UFC fighters with Katie Vega was turned into a video on the YouTube channel. It ended up being just the trick both of them needed to advance… Dre now joins her co-host Sergio in the loser bracket, and will have to fight for that final spot in the finale. Let’s hope The Royal Rundown brings the views next round for the dynamic duo.

Austin Luff (79,127 views) def. Lewis Simpson (7 views) via first-round TKO.

It’s still quite jaw dropping to see the resurgence Austin Luff has had at The Scrap. Since finding his footing in the video content & TikTok world, he has been a view-machine. He absolutely obliterated Lewis Simpson, and edged out the highest viewed content this round. Even though we knew Lewis was going to be taking a leave of absence to focus on his site, his participation wouldn’t have changed the result. Now that Lewis is heading to the loser bracket, someone will get a second chance and fill in for him moving forward. So stay tuned to see who it’s going to be…

Sergio Vicente (23 views) def. Dylan Bowker (6 views) via unanimous decision.

With our first elimination of the season, Sergio Vicente officially kicks Dylan Bowker off The Scrap’s staff for good. Sergio did just enough to keep himself alive in the competition. Unfortunately, we can’t say the same for Dylan who’s view count just never seemed to form properly on the site.

Katie Vega (86 views) def. Steven Rae (25 views) via third-round submission.

After a minor hiccup last week, Katie Vega gets back in the win column and eliminates Steven Rae from the competition. She’s going to have to get back to her dominant ways though if she wants to get anywhere near that Ultimate Writer title for the third time. Can she be the first-ever 3x TUW champ next, after already making history last season? Only time will tell…

Juan Reneo (77 views) def. Lee Brown (23 views) via doctor’s stoppage in the third round.

Mr. Consistent gets back in the win column thanks to his Pro Wrestling Spotlight series that has been gaining traction. With the win, Juan Reneo eliminates Lee Brown from the competition. Juan is going to have to ramp it up a couple notches if he wants to make it to the finale again this season and maybe win it all for the first time.

Be on the lookout for the updated brackets on the upcoming guide to TUW 26 piece. The competition is just starting to heat up and get interesting…
