Exciting Prospects to Watch at UFC Mexico City

UFC Mexico City takes place on March 29th at the Arena CDMX. The top of the bill features former champion Brandon Moreno taking on former title challenger Steve Erceg, with significant title implications on the line.
The card kicks off with MarQuel Mederos, fighting out of Factory X in Denver. At 28 years old, he boasts a 9-1 professional record and is known for his knockout power, which earned him a contract on Contender Series. Mederos returns after a long layoff. He last fought in February of the previous year, where he won his debut via unanimous decision.
Christian Rodriguez made a splash by derailing Austin Bashi’s hype train and has become a fighter to watch. While he’s had issues making weight at bantamweight, Rodriguez seems to have found his stride at featherweight. His opponent, Melquizael Costa, is also rising through the ranks. He won his last two fights by submission against seasoned competition. This bout between promising prospects could see both fighters in the top 15 in the near future.
Ronaldo Rodríguez will open up the main card. Catching the attention of fight fans at UFC Noche in The Shere last year, Rodríguez followed it up with a victory over Ode Osbourne. His aggressive fighting style and relentless pursuit of finishes make him a fan favorite.
UFC Debuts at UFC Mexico City:
- Ateba Gautier, the 22-year-old Cameroonian, makes his UFC debut after earning a contract on Contender Series. Standing tall at 6’4″, he towers over the middleweight division and has finished his last five wins by knockout, four of them in the first round.
- David Martinez also earned a contract on Contender Series last year. A former bantamweight champion in Combate Global, Martinez is known for his knockout power, with nine KO wins on his record. His ability to finish fights early and late makes him a dangerous opponent.
