Don’t Sleep on Davey Grant vs. Da’Mon Blackshear
The UFC returns to Abu Dhabi this Saturday, July 26, as UFC Abu Dhabi features ranked middleweights No. 5-ranked Robert Whittaker and No. 13-ranked Reinier de Ridder headlining the card based inside Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Despite the action-packed main event, fans should tune in to watch the bantamweight matchup between Davey Grant and Da’Mon Blackshear.
An Explosive Bantamweight Clash
The UFC Abu Dhabi prelims features England’s UFC veteran Davey Grant (14-7-0) taking on the supremely skilled submission artist Da’Mon Blackshear (17-7-1). Both fighters have earned ‘Fight of the Night’ bonuses in the past.
Grant, 39, holds thirteen UFC appearances under his belt. Ultimately, he’s been a fifty-fifty fighter, going 7-6 during his UFC tenure. He has only lost to the upper echelon of bantamweight talent. Grant has become a fan-favorite over his twelve-year UFC career. Fans love his slick finishing ability inside the cage and willingness to fight formidable competition. Grant has ‘Fight of the Night’ performances against Marlon Vera and Adrian Yanez. 3-2 over his last five appearances, he was able to outclass Ramon Taveras to a decision back in April. Now, he looks to expand upon his win streak as he takes on a dangerous grappler in Blackshear.
Blackshear, 30, will be looking for the one of the biggest wins of his career, and to extend upon his three-fight win streak. He now has a record of 5-3-1 inside the UFC, securing four stoppages. That said, he consistently delivers an entertaining style. His approach is aggressive and fan-friendly, to say the least. Blackshear holds an astounding eleven submission victories on his resume. The battle-tested American has earned two ‘Performance of the Night’ bonuses over his three years with the UFC. He is one of a handful of fighters to win a UFC fight via Twister. That said, he will have his hands full in this exciting matchup.
