Punahele Soriano vs. Nikolay Veretennikov
Once a hot prospect on Contender Series, Punahele Soriano has been through his share of highs and lows since debuting in 2019. Now competing at welterweight, Soriano has found new life with back-to-back victories.
His opponent, Nikolay Veretennikov, finally secured his first UFC win last time out. However, he remains on the chopping block with a 1-2 promotional record. At 35, the window to make a real run is closing quickly. For Veretennikov, this fight could determine whether he sticks around.

Daniel Santos vs. Joo Sang Yoo
Daniel Santos has had a frustrating stretch of bad luck, with multiple fight cancellations on both his and his opponents’ sides. However, when he makes it to the octagon, he delivers; riding a three-fight win streak into UFC 320.
Across from him is undefeated Korean phenom Joo Sang Yoo, appropriately nicknamed “Zombie Jr.”. Yoo has built plenty of hype with a spotless 9-0 record, and his UFC debut turned heads after he scored a knockout in under 30 seconds. If he can keep the momentum going, he could be one of the next big stars at featherweight.

Farid Basharat vs. Chris Gutierrez
This is one of the most intriguing prelim fights on the card. Farid Basharat remains undefeated at 4-0 in the UFC, showcasing crisp striking and a complete game. The “Bash Bros” are one of the best brother duos in all of MMA. But the younger brother’s opponent is no easy test.
Chris Gutierrez is one of the most experienced bantamweights in the division and is known for having some of the nastiest leg kicks in MMA. The two were initially scheduled to meet in August 2024 before Basharat withdrew. Now, with the fight rebooked, it’s a chance for Basharat to prove he’s the real deal, or for Gutierrez to play spoiler.

Ateba Gautier vs. Tre’ston Vines
One of the UFC’s breakout prospects in 2025, Ateba Gautier has been on fire. With two first-round finishes to start his UFC career, the hype train is rolling at full speed. He just seems to be too much for his opponents to handle.
Standing in his way is Tre’ston Vines, who is making his UFC debut on short notice after Ozzy Diaz had to pull out. Vines is 10-3 and on a 4-fight win streak. A win for him would derail Gautier’s momentum in a major way and immediately put him on the map as one to watch.
Honorable Mentions
This week’s UFC card features some intriguing matchups across multiple divisions. Veronica Hardy faces the returning Brogan Walker, who hasn’t competed since 2023. Walker, an early pioneer in women’s MMA, is still searching for her first UFC win (0-2), while Hardy will look to maintain her momentum.
In another compelling bout, Patchy Mix takes on Jakub Wikłacz. Mix aims to bounce back after a disappointing UFC debut, while Wikłacz makes his UFC debut following yet another successful KSW bantamweight title defense.
Finally, Macy Chiasson goes up against Yana Santos in a clash between ranked bantamweights. Although the title seems to already be booked, the outcome of this fight could have major implications for the division’s future.
Don’t sleep on the Prelims!
