Under The Radar: Amanda Serrano vs. Yamileth Mercado
Jake Paul is arguably the most polarizing figure in boxing right now. His headline fight against Tyron Woodley has been a hot topic in both the boxing and MMA world. However, surrounding the controversial Jake Paul is an extremely solid undercard. In the co-main event slot is a women’s featherweight bout featuring two fighters with a combined 35 career knockouts.
Fighting on the biggest Stage @ShowtimeBoxing PPV for my biggest purse in MY NATURAL weight class, That’s what happens when your Manager & Promoter @loudibella don’t settle for what others think is your biggest fight in your opponents weight class & hometown.

Amanda Serrano will take on Yamileth Mercado on August 29th and will look to add to her extensive list of victories. Serrano is undeniably one of the pound-for-pound best boxers in the world. She is the only female, and Puerto Rican, to win world titles in more than four weight classes, and holds the world record for the most boxing world championships won in different weight-classes by a female, having held 9 major world titles across seven different weight classes.
Serrano is the unified featherweight champion and has held the WBO title since 2019, and the WBC title since February. The Puerto Rican fighter has had 42 pro boxing fights and only one loss, which took place in 2012. She last fought in March when she knocked out Daniela Romina Rodriguez retaining her WBO and WBC belts. She also walked away from that fight with the IBO featherweight championship.
Claressa Shields isn’t the only top-ranked boxer competing in MMA this week, Amanda Serrano fights for Ikon on Friday, too. Katie Taylor next? (Kidding. Kidding. But an interesting coincidence considering these are two boxers in their primes.) Serrano is 1-0-1 as an MMA fighter.

You hear about Claressa Shields and Katie Taylor but make no mistake, Amanda Serrano belongs with those names.
Her opponent Yamileth Mercado is equally impressive when you take into account that she is only 23 years old. She is also the WBC female super bantamweight champion and has sat on the super bantamweight throne since 2019, not losing a fight since March 2017. Mercado wins the majority of her fights via decision, which will make for an interesting clash of styles.
Amanda Serrano is a consistent finisher with 30 of her 40 wins coming by knockout. Yamileth Mercado has won 13 of her 18 wins by decision. Will Mercado bring Serrano into deep waters and win another decision? Will Serrano put an end to this fight in a spectacular fashion?
All these questions and more will be answered on August 29th, live on Showtime Pay-Per-View.
