BTC Fight Promotions crowns a new strawweight champion
BTC 8: Eliminator took place November 30 in Niagara Falls, ON. and undefeated pro Lupita Godinez (4-0-0) took home the strawweight belt.
“Loopy” defeated Lindsay Garbatt (8-7-2) via unanimous in a tough showdown.
The Scrap recently had an opportunity to speak with the newly crowned champ. Godinez, who is on a 6-fight win streak, stated that, “it was a tough fight that was really fun. Actually, I had a blast”.
Godinez admitted part of the fun was due to the fact that Para Bellum MMA fighter Garbatt has so much experience in the Octagon. “It was fun because it was the first time I have gotten to fight someone with this much experience. I am really happy it went my way and happy to step in the cage to fight someone with that much experience”.
Lupita was content that she got to show off her boxing and takedowns as well as ground and pound skills in the fight. “One thing I wanted to show in this fight is that I am well-rounded. Some people think that I am just a wrestler or boxer, but this fight was a little bit of everything”.
When asked what the future holds for her after her title win the strawweight declared, “I am ready for anything. I would like to get that call and just go big and show the world what I can do”. The fighter said she believes that she is one of the top contenders and said matter-of-factly “I am confident I could beat anyone right now in the UFC or any big organization”.
