Get to know Jhun Pascual: King of the Cage’s Production Manager

Read Time:1 Minute, 49 Second

Jhun Pascual has been close enough to the action to hear the punches and the sound of ribs cracking.

Pascual travels on the road with King of the Cage and is in charge of video and photography. Beginning in 2012, he made a career change from California wildlife firefighter to photographer thanks to an opportunity provided by Steven Inman. Inman is the owner of the independent production company, Inman Entertainment.

At the same time he started with KOTC, he began training in Jiu-Jitsu under Professor Francisco Davila in Phelan, CA. Pascual credits his Jiu-Jitsu training for helping him get the best shots. The photographer says because of his Jiu-Jitsu experience, he can visualize what he is trying to shoot for; always looking for finishes and knowing what to watch out for next.

He adds that itโ€™s a lot of responsibility taking care of the fight footage. Admittingly, Jhun always gets nervous at every event. โ€œItโ€™s like we are the ones fighting,โ€ he says.

Crediting his stellar road crew for the excellent quality of the product, Pascual further shared that the best part of his job is being in control of his own work. โ€œItโ€™s a fun gig,โ€ he said.ย Jhun admits at times it is nerve-wracking to be so close to the fight, but he would never give up his front-row seat.

Working with KOTC has taken him all over the globe to places such as Singapore, Indonesia, Cuba, Mexico, the Philippines and throughout the United States. When asked why he chose the field of MMA photography, the long-bearded Pascual declares he is, โ€œnot a wedding type of person,โ€ and for anyone out there who is looking to get into his line of work, he suggested to keep on filming, โ€œsomewhere, somehow you will land in the stuff you want to doโ€.
