Jason Witt is looking for his first UFC win on Halloween night
“The Vanilla Gorilla” Jason Witt (17-6) is set to face Cole Williams (11-2) on October 31 at UFC Vegas 12. The welterweight match-up will see both fighters trying to avenge their debut losses in the UFC.
Witt lost to Takashi Sato (16-3) via TKO (ground and pound punches) at 48 seconds of round one at UFC Vegas 4 in June. Williams was finished early in the first round by Claudio Silva (14-2) at UFC Newark in August 2019.
Witt recently spoke with Behind The Grind about his upcoming fight.
“I feel really good,” he said, “I’m really putting a lot of time into this camp. It’s one of the only camps I’ve really had twelve to fourteen weeks to train. I feel really good about this fight. I want to prove who I am and what I’m capable of doing inside the ring.”
The Glory MMA and fitness athlete explained the story behind his unusual nickname. “There was a time in my life when I cut to 155 [pounds] and after I kind of blew up to two hundred pounds. I’m a pretty strong athletic caucasian person. One of my coaches Jason High said, ‘Man you look so big, you look like a vanilla gorilla,’ The whole class started laughing. It just stuck after that.”
