Pro Wrestling Spotlight: North Coast Wrestling

Read Time:2 Minute, 25 Second

Cantabria is a beautiful region in the north of Spain. It has a vibrant wrestling scene ready to show the world what it is all about… North Coast Wrestling (NCW) is the first promotion from the region of Cantabria and in their short history, they have shown a lot of potential.

The beginnings of NCW can be traced back to 2017, when a group of teenagers who practiced backyard wrestling and loved the sport wanted to highlight it to the region of Cantabria. Wrestlers like Sin Nombre, Tommy Blizzard, Juan Salmón, and Javi Calderón were instrumental in the formation of their promotion.

One year later, the boys were able to put on their first show under the NCW banner. This show was important for the beginnings of the promotion, and of course, its future. While constantly improving as a whole; the help from PWE, and both Carlos Romo and A-Kid were instrumental for their development. Though 2020 looked to be a promising year for NCW, the pandemic affected NCW tremendously, just like it did for most of the Spanish scene. While the pandemic had its affects, it didn’t stop them completely… They were able to use the time they had for several web seminars, even having A-Kid help as a guest coach for a few of them.

The best thing about the Spanish wrestling scene is how often promotions work together. NCW has benefited by working with promotions from different parts of Spain like Triple W (Madrid), Tyris (Valencia), and PWE (Euskadi), to name a few. These relationships allow for Spanish wrestling to grow, and allows fans from different parts of Spain to enjoy what Spanish wrestling has to offer.

NCW has some interesting wrestlers worth following like: Luis “un chaval más” (19 years-old), is a high-flyer and according to him – he has the best dropkick in Spain. Tyler Jackson (19 years-old) all-rounder; Tommy Blizzard (24 years-old) technician and striker, and the founder/coach of NCW, Juan Salmón (25 years-old) who is a fan of hardcore wrestling. Axel Wolf (18 years-old) one of the best young prospects Cantabria has to offer, and Keto Miera (30 years-old) who is a fan-favorite of the scene.

Back in August of 2022, NCW announced they hosted a show with more than 1,000 people. This not only showed the promotion’s growth, but how much the people of Cantabria are interested in pro wrestling. A big achievement for such a young promotion…

Needless to say, the future of NCW looks to be very bright. The promotion now will try to focus on the development of some of their young wrestlers. As a promotion, they also want to grow more and start doing shows in the different regions of Cantabria.
