Kenny Cross officially gets a dance partner for August 4th.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to The Scrap that a bout between the Michigan standout and Kevin Syler is reportedly in the works.
Cross is on a 4-fight win streak, all wins coming by KO/TKO. Recently capturing the Light Out lightweight championship against a tough opponent, Cross has the makings of a future company man. With a record of 10-3, “The Boss” looks to ink a UFC contract to kick off the new season.
Syler makes his Contender Series return after defeating Franco Aranda at Combate Bolivia MMA 3 by second-round triangle choke. The new lightweight hopes to go 2-0 in his new weight class after missing weight for his DWCS debut last season. Syler trains at American Top Team, so you know he has an incredible choke game as well and has to defend against some of the best choke artists in all of MMA during training.
All events will take place at the UFC Apex Arena in Las Vegas. The fourth season of Dana White’s Contender Series is expected to kick off Aug. 4 and run each week through mid-October. Catch DWCS, Season 4 live on ESPN+ this summer.
