Ryan Bader & Lorenz Larkin on their respective Bellator 280 fights
Ryan Bader defends his heavyweight crown in a rematch with Cheick Kongo at Bellator 280 on Friday, May 6th. This fight transpires at Accor Arena in Paris, France.
I spoke to Bader at the Bellator MMA virtual media day. Excerpts from our interaction can be found below.
Antรดnio Paulo Branjรฃo work and the pursuit of replicating Kongo’s frame and stylistic tells-
“Pretty much him on this camp. We brought him in exclusively to work with us. He’s always in shape. A good fighter, good striker. Really good on the ground. He’s long, he’s strong. I brought him in for the last fight also. It’s good to see that length. It takes a couple of weeks to get used to that.”
“But then dealing with that big body and that tall body, it’ll feel like home when I’m in there against Kongo who has a similar body. Working with him has been amazing. He is always in shape to go five rounds hard and he pushes me. It’s been great having him.”

Lorenz Larkin
If there’s an ideal strength of schedule that Larkin would enjoy for 2022-
“Yes, I would like to get another bout before August or the first week of August. Then aim towards December. So I would like three this year. In that timeline.”
Getting to fight in France here and how the overall experience has been for Larkin-
“It’s great. I’ve seen a lot. My whole team has seen a lot. We’ve ventured out. It’s been good. I like Paris.”
