Shana “Danger” Dobson (3-4) is getting ready to face Mariya Agapova (9-1) at UFC Fight Night on August 22. In 2017, Dobson was a competitor on the Ultimate Fighter 26. The 31-year-old beat Ariel Beck (4-5) by TKO in round 2 on the show. Since then she’s suffered three losses against Lauren Mueller, Sabina Mazo, and Priscila Cachoeira.

Dobson switched gyms and has been training at Elevation Fight Team in Colorado since January. She stated the move has tremendously improved her game. “We’ve got everything that you need here; everything I need to make my camp great. My coaches Sean Madden and Christian Allen are two striking wizards. My jiu-jitsu and wrestling coaches are off the chain. I can just talk about this team all day. This was the best move for my career and a great sacrifice. Training with Elevation Fight Team I’ve been able to put those levels to my game and to learn how to use my style effectively”.

Agapova is a former Contender Series competitor from 2019 and won her debut in the UFC. The 23-year-old beat Hannah Cifers (10-6) in June by rear naked choke at UFC Fight Night: Eye vs. Calvillo. After her win she called out Dobson.

“I like that she called me out. I respect that, I’ve never been called out before. I like that kind of incentive behind the match and that little bit of hype to get it hyped up. I’ve faced a lot of tough opponents. I’ve been in there with Nicco Montaño a former flyweight champion and Roxanne Modafferi who has a million fights. I’ve been in there with some warriors. I’m excited to put on a good performance with her”.

In her interview with Behind The Grind, Dobson expressed her excitement about her upcoming match. “I’m happy I’m going back to Vegas, that’s my city right there. I’m excited to have a good performance in Vegas like I did in my debut. I look forward to getting in there with her and showing the world how I’ve grown and what we’ve got going on. We’re representing for the women in this sport and the women in the UFC. I look forward to this matchup. Let’s make it a good show for the folks.”
