The underrated fights to watch at UFC Fight Night 155 in Sacramento, California

On Saturday, July 13th, UFC will be making its way to Sacramento, California for UFC Fight Night 155: de Randamie vs Ladd.

Below are the underrated fights to watch for the weekend’s fight card.

Livinha Souza vs Brianna Van Buren:

Livinha ‘The Brazilian Gangster’ Souza looks to keep her undefeated UFC run alive as she battles Brianna ‘Tha Bull’ Van Buren in what should be an action-packed strawweight bout.

Souza holds a professional record of 13-1, including 8 submissions and 2 knockouts. Her UFC record currently stands at 2-0. She is also riding a 4-fight win streak which includes 2 finishes. She just recently made her UFC debut against Alex Chambers, where she was victorious, finishing the fight by first-round submission. Souza has remained undefeated since 2016, when she dropped a split decision to strawweight contender Angela Hill.

Her opponent, Brianna ‘Tha Bull’ Van Buren, is also riding a streak of her own right now. Although she has yet to face UFC competition, she is currently on a 5-fight win streak which includes 3 submission finishes, and holds a professional record of 8-2. In her most recent fight, she stopped Invicta FC’s Kailin Curran by second-round submission.

Jonathan Martinez vs Pingyuan Liu:

UFC bantamweights clash as Jonathan Martinez takes on Pingyuan Liu. Martinez and Liu have both fought only twice in the UFC so far, Martinez going 1-1 and Liu 2-0.

Martinez holds a professional record of 10-2, including 5 knockouts and 2 submissions. In his most recent fight, he picked up a unanimous decision win over Wuliji Buren on the UFC 234 undercard. Prior to that, he had just made his UFC debut against Andre Soukhamthath, where he lost by unanimous decision. The only other loss of his career came by DQ in 2015.

His opponent, Pingyuan Liu, holds a professional record of 13-5, including 4 knockouts and 5 submissions. He is currently riding a 9-fight win streak which includes 7 finishes. He is currently 2-0 in the UFC, both of which were decision wins.

Mike Rodriguez vs John Allan Arte:

UFC light heavyweights collide in the main event of the prelims card on Saturday night, as Mike ‘Slow’ Rodriguez battles short-notice replacement, John Allan Arte. Rodriguez was originally scheduled to fight Gian Villante, but Villante had to withdraw from the fight for unknown reasons.

Rodriguez holds a professional record of 10-3, including 8 knockouts and 2 submissions. He is currently 1-1 in the UFC. He also has 1 win from DWCS which was a first-round knockout. In his most recent fight, he fought Adam Milstead and won by first-round TKO. Let’s see what he can do when he goes to war with fellow knockout artist John Allan Arte on Saturday night.

His opponent, John Allan Arte, holds a professional record of 13-5, including 9 knockouts and 3 submissions. In his most recent fight, he fought Alexandre Silva at Future FC 6 and won by second-round TKO. Just prior to that, he had fought on DWCS and lost to Vinicius Moreira by second-round submission.

Both of these men have the potential to be absolute forces in the light heavyweight division. Both have heavy hands and have been battle tested plenty. Let’s see what happens when the two collide in the main event of the prelims. You DON’T want to miss this one!
