UFC 272: Rookie Betting Advice

Read Time:2 Minute, 17 Second

I’m not a professional gambler, and really not a gambler at all. With that said, I feel I have a good grasp of the sport. I wouldn’t advise anyone to follow these bets, as they are some I won’t even be placing. We all know that MMA betting is a tough task, so here’s some of the best bets for UFC 272…

I’m also using lines from Betonline, but you could find even better odds from other books.

My favorite bet of the entire card is the money line on Jalin Turner. He’s sitting at -155 right now, but a few days ago he was at -130. Even at -155, it’s easily a play to make. His opponent Jamie Mullarkey is a tough guy who I won’t discredit at all. Turner is the bigger, more physical, and more technical fighter compared to Mullarkey. I would be confident in saying Turner is better everywhere this fight could go.

Another fighter I’m really confident in is Tagir Ulanbekov. Tim Elliott still puts on exciting fights but he’s not the same fighter he was. Since being in the UFC, Elliott doesn’t have a win against anyone still in the UFC. Aging at 35-years-old, he’s fighting a young Russian who has won his last five. Ulanbekov hasn’t been making any waves in the UFC, going the distance in his two UFC fights. With that said, he’s performed really well and should handle Elliott. Even at a high price at -255, I still really like the bet. Unfortunately, I can’t see a path to victory for Elliott.

Coming into the UFC, I had a lot of praise for Devonte Smith. Since coming to the UFC, he’s 3-2 and has been very disappointing. Although he’s explosive and athletic, he’s shown to have a major problem with his gas tank and his chin isn’t too good. His opponent Ludovit Klein also has a problem with his cardio, but not to the same extent as Smith. I’m sure this fight will be a striking affair and I strongly side with Klein there.

Smith has more power, but Klein has way more weapons. Klein is moving up a weightclass on short notice, but he’s gonna come in as the faster fighter. At this stage, Smith shouldn’t be a favorite, especially against a dangerous fighter. I would gladly take Klein as a dog at +144.

That’s the only bets I really like, but for some of the prop hunters out there – here are the ones I like:

  • Sergey Spivak by points at +250
  • Mariya Agapova ITD at +210
  • Jalin Turner by Submission at +500
