Wednesday Night Wars: AEW Dynamite Week 24 Review

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite took place at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah.
Tony Schiavone Interviews Adam Page
In a pre-taped interview, Tony Schiavone asked Adam Page who would be his tag team partner for tonight’s episode. Page mentioned, he would not ask Matt Jackson to be his tag team partner, but he would consider Nick Jackson.
Cody def. Ortiz w/ Santana
This match was good, but it also served to move other stories going on. During the match Jake Roberts and Lance Archer appeared, making it clear that Archer is Robert’s client.
Cody was able to summit Ortiz with the figure four leglock. After the match ended, Santana attacked Cody, but Kenny Omega and Matt Jackson made the save.
After all this, Chris Jericho and the other members of the Inner Circle made a promo about their upcoming Blood & Guts match (War Games match). They revealed they intercepted Nick Jackson, attacked him and trapped him on a garage door.
All this was a great build for the Blood & Guts match. The feud between The Elite and The Inner Circle has just escalated.
Nyla Rose & Bea Priestley def. Hikaru Shida & Kris Statlander
This match was great. All four women did a great job. This bout had plenty of time and told various stories. Nyla Rose picked up the win for her team with an awesome spear and her finisher, the beast bomb on Shida.
After the match ended, Priestley attacked Nyla Rose and picked up the AEW Women’s Championship. Bea Priestly looks to be the next opponent for Nyla Rose.
Christopher Daniels’s Dark Order Parody Video
This was really funny. Christopher Daniel mocked the Dark Order and mentioned SCU’s victory over the cult-like faction on AEW Revolution. Worth checking out.
MJF, The Butcher & The Blade w/ Wardlow & The Bunny def. Jurassic Express
A very fun match. The crowd loved everything Jurassic Express did. MJF and BBB made a great heel during the match. The story of the match building towards a hot tag to Jungle Boy and the crowd exploded once this happened.
At the end, The Bunny distracted the referee and MJF was able to summit Marko Stunt with the Salt of the Earth lock.
Britt Baker & Big Swole Promo Exchange
Baker has improved so much since she turned heel. Big Swole was also great on this segment and showed a lot of personality in her promo.
The best part of all this was when Baker said that the only wrestler people care about in her household was her boyfriend, to which Big Swole responded with she was married, Bay-Bay.
Death Triangle def. Private Party & Joey Janela
This was a fast moving match. All 6 wrestlers were awesome and everybody got their time to shine. Private Party are great, but they are still in some aspects, green.
After PAC pinned Janela with the Black Arrow, Death Triangle put Private Party and Janela on a triple submission. Best Friends and Orange Cassidy appeared to make Death Triangle to stop their attack.
Lexy Near Interviews Dustin Rhodes
Dustin Rhodes announced in this segment that like or not, he would be Adam Page’s tag team partner because he was tired of all the shenanigans The Inner Circle have done.
Blood & Guts match Rules
The rules for this upcoming match between The Elite and The Inner Circle are:
- Two men enter for a five minute round.
- Every two minutes another competitor will enter.
- The match will begin once all 10 competitors are in the cage.
- The only way to win this match is via submission or surrender.
Jim Ross Interviews Jon Moxley
This was a good segment, but not one of Moxley’s best promos. During this segment, Moxley teased a match between him and Jake Hager down the line.
Adam Page & Dustin Rhodes def. Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara
Another solid match. Adam Page once more was the star of this tag team bout. Guevara & Jericho have great chemistry as a tag team.
After the match ended, the other members of The Inner Circle appeared and attacked Page and Rhodes, but Omega and Cody tried to make the save. However, the numbers game is in the Inner Circle’s favor. Matt Jackson later appeared to save Page from a triple power bomb, then he got distracted and gave Page the middle finger. This distraction was used by The Inner Cicle to take the upper hand once more,
This final segment was good, but it feels like AEW has used the massive brawl at the end of the show too often.
Rating
The crowd was awesome during the show and were electric for everything in front of them. The match of the night was Death Triangle vs. Private Party & Joey Janela. In a close second was Jurassic Express vs. MJF, The Butcher & The Blade.
The only negative would be the overuse of the massive brawl for endings on several episodes of Dynamite.
