What WWE LFG Must Fix for Season 3
Season 1 of WWE LFG wrapped up and immediately transitioned into Season 2, showing that WWE isn’t wasting time developing its next generation of stars.
With the series officially renewed for three more seasons, fans can expect WWE LFG to continue its momentum, with Season 3 already on the way. But after watching the evolution from the first to the second, it’s clear there are still things that need to change.
What WWE LFG Needs to Change for Season 3
Be Ready for Injuries and Unexpected Changes
One of the biggest takeaways from Season 2 was the need for better injury preparedness. When several competitors were sidelined, it exposed the show’s thin roster depth and how unready production was to handle sudden changes within its current structure.
Having backup plans or alternates ready to step in would make the competition run much smoother, similar to Season 1 when Cutler James replaced BJ Ray early on. Their fight for the final spot added excitement and gave the show an extra layer of intensity.
Bring in More Experienced Wrestlers
While WWE LFG aims to discover the next generation of superstars, the skill gap between contestants was hard to ignore. It also made the show somewhat predictable, as the Legends often used the same reasoning when deciding not to advance someone in the competition.
The common excuse centered on wrestlers being “too green,” suggesting it would be a disservice to move them forward too soon. Season 3 should feature more experienced wrestlers who can elevate the in-ring quality, enhance storytelling, and are truly ready to compete on WWE NXT.
Simplify & Clarify the Point System
The current point system is confusing and inconsistent, with unclear criteria for how wrestlers earn points. To make things even more complicated, there are two systems running at the same time, one for the wrestlers and one for the coaches.
In reality, only the coaches’ points matter since they determine playoff positions. The wrestlers’ points hold little weight when they still have to fight for their spot in the semi-finals. So, it makes the setup feel a bit redundant.
Fix Bias in Scoring & Judging
As much as fans enjoy the WWE Legends who serve as mentors, it’s clear that bias can influence their scoring. In Season 2, this was most noticeable given that Michelle McCool and Undertaker are married, and tie-breakers could end up favoring their own picks.
For Season 3, a better system is needed. Guest judges could help, but the coaches competing for points should not also be the ones assigning them.
Returning Stars or Fresh Faces?
Another big question is whether WWE LFG will bring back returning competitors or feature an entirely new cast. Season 2 introduced four new Future Greats: Trill London, Haze Jameson, Summer Sorrell, and Harlem Lewis.
They also brought back familiar faces like Anthony Luke and Zena Sterling, who were considered strong contenders. Recent WWE cuts impacted LFG talent, including BJ Ray, Summer Sorrell, and Haze Jameson. So needless to say, Season 3 will definitely see some new faces joining the competition.
Coaching Changes for Season 3
Season 1 featured Mickie James as coach. In Season 2, she was replaced by Michelle McCool, who went on to win the competition, dethroning her husband. Could Season 3 bring another coaching change?
There’s a strong case for rotating Legends to keep things fresh. But, consistency could also help develop the LFG brand’s identity. We also discuss the ‘WWE Legends Who Should Coach on LFG’ article we published earlier this year.
