What’s Next for Cody Rhodes?
With Cody Rhodes finishing the story at WrestleMania 40 after finally defeating Roman Reigns, one of the questions many people have is: What’s next? That’s a fair question to ask, because Cody has plenty of options within the current WWE roster.
In terms of the big picture stuff, the obvious plans are to have Cody face The Rock down the line. Most likely at SummerSlam this year… Another option would be for Cody and Roman Reigns to have a rematch. But, the most likely scenario is for Cody to work with The Rock considering that’s the match WWE fans want to see.
I’m so excited to see what’s next for Cody Rhodes following Backlash.

With AJ Styles in the KOTR tournament I imagine that means a rematch isn’t in the cards so who else could it be?
A heel Kevin Owens perhaps? Solo Sikoa…or is it too early?
Either way I can’t WAIT to find… pic.twitter.com/Nb4DVJPRfa
One negative aspect of Cody Rhodes having to wait until SummerSlam to have another major feud is that it does make his current programs a bit predictable. It’s obvious WWE will protect Cody until he faces The Rock this summer. Paul Levesque’s booking will be key for these next few months as he keeps Cody looking strong, with interesting programs.
Another question people ask is: Who will be the one to eventually dethrone Cody? Obviously, WWE doesn’t plan that far ahead, so your guess is as good as anyone’s. However, WWE needs to take advantage of this opportunity and use it to eventually put over a young heel wrestler on their roster. WWE could also go the veteran route, with wrestlers like Gunther as an interesting option.
HHH and WWE have their hands full with their hottest male babyface in a very long time. But how does the story end? We’ll have to wait and see.
