WWE AI

WWE Testing Artificial Intelligence for Storyline Ideas & Production Tools

Read Time:1 Minute, 35 Second

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported that WWE is looking into adding AI to its creative process. According to Meltzer, the catalyst for this move was the hiring of Cyrus Kowsari as Senior Director of Creative Strategy.

The same report also indicates that the first AI trials haven’t gone smoothly, especially after a proposed storyline involved a returning Bobby Lashley obsessed with Japanese culture — a concept reminiscent of the Lord Tensai character.

As of now, WWE’s plans for AI are reportedly limited to being an assistant for writers and handling tasks like graphics, video, and other creative elements. Still, this news has sparked growing distrust among fans toward WWE’s parent company, TKO.

WWE exploring AI feels very on brand for both the company and TKO. With Hollywood already beginning to embrace AI-assisted writing, it seemed inevitable that WWE would eventually follow suit… Even if Vince McMahon were still in charge. One way or another, AI was always going to find its way into WWE.

Could AI Change Wrestling Forever?

The use of AI in WWE feels inevitable, but it also raises major concerns. If the industry leader embraces AI, it could open the floodgates for other promotions to follow suit. The wrestling industry could change forever, and not necessarily for the better.

As of now, no other promotions have commented on the use of AI in their creative processes. But, the rest of the wrestling world will be watching closely. If WWE finds success with it, others may be tempted to do the same.

AI becoming part of pro wrestling’s creative process sets a dangerous precedent. While AI itself is not inherently bad and can be a powerful tool in fields like medicine, its use in storytelling, whether in wrestling, movies, or books, risks homogenizing creativity and making everything feel robotic.

AI in WWE is a story worth following closely.
