Solomon Renfro: ‘This November I’ll be fighting for $1 Million dollars’

Solomon “The Black Dragon” Renfro (11-3, 5 Finishes) entered the PFL Regular Season on 6-days notice and notched a second-round TKO of Jarrah Hussein Al-Silawi, which ended up being enough for the 26-year old to advance to the PFL Playoffs.
Now, he’s matched up with former PFL Champion Magomed Magomedkerimov in a high stakes clash of styles.
Built for the Big Stage
Throughout Renfro’s competitive career, there always seemed to be a spotlight on him. In his CFFC, LFA, and Contender Series appearances, many fans could sense something special about the Buffalo, NY native. But his staggered results in big moments have led to him not realizing the mainstream popularity it feels like he is destined for. I asked Solomon what that platform and pressure is like, and if it affects him in any way:
“It makes me used to performing under these lights. I don’t feel pressure. Actually, I have been an athlete performing at a high level since High School. I played high-level football and boxed as an amateur and I wrestled and went to state. These things taught me how to perform and that there is no moment too big for you. All you have to do is breathe, relax, and be yourself and that’s it.”
Cool, calm, and collected. It certainly feels like the big platform Renfro has enjoyed is paying off at least in the media training. I was curious about the many sacrifices Renfro has made in pursuit of MMA glory, there is a story about him missing his Senior year prom because he was cutting weight for an amateur fight…
“It’s worth it. And it’s going to be worth it. This year, I have a chance to make a million dollars. Last year my wrist was broken, I was trying to get on TUF last year and couldn’t because of that. That was November, this November I’ll be fighting for a million dollars. So every sacrifice has been worth it 100%.”
