Baisangur Susurkaev’s Insane 2025 Leading to His UFC Debut

Read Time:2 Minute, 4 Second

Baisangur Susurkaev’s journey over the past few months has been nothing short of wild.

The Chechnya-born fighter is now 10-0 and officially a UFC fighter after making history on Dana White’s Contender Series Season 9. While this was always the goal, the plan shifted in the months leading up to his life-changing moment. We dive into the events that unfolded after he landed in California for Khamzat Chimaev’s UFC 319 fight camp:

Helping Khamzat Prepare for Gold

On July 1st, Baisangur Susurkaev flew to California to join Khamzat Chimaev’s fight camp ahead of the Russian star’s UFC title fight. As one of Khamzat’s main training partners, he was in the thick of the action, helping sharpen his skills ahead taking on Dricus Du Plessis.

An Unexpected Injury

During week 2, Susurkaev revealed he had sustained an injury. While he couldn’t train for a few days, he is seen telling Pat Downey that he’d be able to “smash” him soon.

Originally preparing for another fight under the Fury FC banner in August after finishing Irakli Kuchukhidze in the second round at Fury FC 102, the opportunity fell through. But, the timing opened the door for something even bigger.

Check out what went down during week 2 of fight camp featuring Arman Tsarukyan:

Making UFC History

Baisangur Susurkaev’s UFC journey began on short notice. He stepped in against 7-1 prospect Murtaza Talha on Week 1 of Dana White’s Contender Series. Seizing the opportunity, he finished Talha with a brutal body kick in the first round.

He was one of only two fighters to earn a contract that night. Dana White even said Susurkaev saved the episode after it turned out to be a decision-heavy card.

Just four days later, he made his UFC debut at UFC 319 against Eric Nolan. The former Marine was originally set for the DWCS this year, but was signed outright to take the short-notice fight. Susurkaev battled through early adversity before ultimately secured a second-round rear naked choke.

From Khamzat’s fight camp to the Contender Series and then the UFC octagon in record time, Susurkaev’s rise has been nothing short of historic. It has already established him as a new star in the already stacked middleweight division.
