Aaron Jeffery tests his skills with Fabio Aguiar at Bellator 282 on June 24th.

Jeffery returned to Bowks Talking Bouts and covered multiple topics ahead of his Bellator MMA debut. Excerpts from our chat are below.

The feelings associated with getting the call about a Bellator MMA contract-

“They’re one of the big organizations that people are trying to get into. So I’m happy to be there.”

Jeffery’s thoughts on Fabio Aguiar ahead of AJ’s promotional debut-

“He seems to be pretty well rounded. He’s got a ton of fights right. He’s got twenty pro fights. Had a couple of fights in Bellator. He’s got a good record. He’s a tough guy, he’s well rounded. He looks decent on the feet. Looks like he can wrestle a little bit too. So I kind of just do my thing. Just keep training hard, focus on everything. Kind of put more focus into what I do well as a fighter rather than focusing on my opponent.”

Training at Sanford MMA as a recently newer facet of his training-

“Right after my fight in January, I was actually just going to go for a little vacation down to Florida. One of my buddy’s dads had a place down there. We were just going to go chill for a weekend and kind of get some nice weather and whatever. I decided to check out the gym while I was there. I ended up loving it and stayed for a month. That was in February. Then I just went back last month for about four weeks again.”

Jeffery’s brother being a huge supporter of his MMA pursuits and his temperature on AJ’s Bellator signing-

“He’s pumped, man. Texting me about it all the time. He actually just bought his tickets. He texted me telling me he’s so fired up. He’s like sitting real close to the cage. Sounds like he’s almost more excited than I am for this.”
