AEW & Shane McMahon: Does it make sense?
The world of pro wrestling is full of insane rumors. While most are not worth covering, this one is. According to Conrad Thompson, Shane McMahon is interested in working for AEW and he has even spoken to some former WWE wrestlers that now work for AEW asking questions about the promotion.
While this is a rumor, if we analyze it, there are two ways to see a potential Shane run in AEW. First of all, it would be a really bad idea for AEW to even think of signing McMahon… There’s no real value for them, and AEW needs to focus more on their current roster instead of signing another older WWE legend that doesn’t contribute much to the promotion. AEW should have no connections with any McMahon family member considering the current events.
Some people will argue that Shane McMahon does add value to AEW. Others even want to see him have match with Darby Allin… But one of the main reasons people want Shane in AEW is for the simple reason it would be the biggest f*** you AEW could give to WWE. While it would be great for beef purposes, in the long run, Shane would not be a needle mover whatsoever.
The speculation and fantasy booking of this scenario is obviously interesting. But, Tony Khan has commented on it and said it’s far from true. He followed that up by saying he has never even met Shane. So for now, this wild rumor will be another one for the collections. However, it sure is a very strange one.
