Don’t Sleep on Charles Johnson vs. Ramazonbek Temirov
The UFC returns to the Apex in Las Vegas on February 29 for UFC Vegas 103, headlined by a pivotal flyweight clash between No. 6-ranked Manel Kape and No. 8-ranked Asu Almabayev.
Aside from headliners, there are plenty of fights you don’t want to miss. But one fans may be sleeping on is the flyweight clash between Charles Johnson and Ramazonbek Temirov.
The UFC Veteran vs. The Unproven Prospect
Charles Johnson (17-6-0) takes on the well-rounded Uzbekistan prospect Ramazonbek Temirov (18-2-0) over three scheduled rounds.
Johnson, 34, is now a fan favorite, always willing to face tough competition. His resilient fight style inside the cage has won him many supporters. The relentless wrestler has recently shown strides in his striking. Johnson started his UFC career going 2-4 in his first six fights. He showed true resilience as he rides a four-fight win streak coming into this fight. Johnson is a battle-tested flyweight. He has fought the likes of Jake Hadley, Joshua Van, Cody Durden, Sumudaerji, and Muhammad Mokaev. So, he is no stranger to tough matchups.
Temirov, 28, has only one UFC appearance under his belt. The well-rounded mixed martial artist spent two fights in the marquee Japanese promotion Rizin. He went 2-0 in his time there, with both wins coming via knockout. Temirov would go on to make his long-awaited UFC debut against CJ Vergara back in October 2024. He has proven to be a great addition to the roster, scoring a statement-making first-round body shot knockout. His deafening punches landed flush on Vergara’s midsection while leaning against the cage. The powerful puncher has been on a tear over the past four years. He has racked up an eye-catching ten-fight win streak. His last five fights all came via finish.
It will be interesting to see how Johnson, a highly conditioned wrestler, negates Temirov’s finishing potential. Johnson is experienced, and Temirov poses a genuine challenge.
