WWE LFG: Episode 3 Recap
The world of professional wrestling is about to welcome a new era of talent with WWE’s newest show, WWE LFG, premiering on A&E. This groundbreaking series provides an inside look at what it truly takes to make it in WWE. It also features legendary mentors guiding the next generation of superstars vying for a WWE NXT contract.
Helmed by WWE executives and Hall of Famers Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Shawn Michaels, LFG boasts a stacked coaching lineup. It includes The Undertaker, Booker T, Mickie James, and Bubba Ray Dudley. Each week, these industry veterans will mentor a group of aspiring wrestlers. They will offer invaluable guidance on both in-ring performance and the all-important mic skills. With their wealth of experience, they will shape the future of WWE one match at a time.
Season 1, Episode 3: ‘Verbal Takedown’
The third episode, Verbal Takedown, aired on March 2, 2025, at 8:00PM ET on A&E. The show kicked off with the coaches offering advice to their teams. We then saw the infamous Bayou Boogie, featuring Drake Morreaux, Zena Sterling, and Tayanna Dumas dancing in front of Bubba Ray. This was followed by a video package highlighting the importance of promos in WWE.
Booker expressed his liking for Black, but Bubba wasn’t convinced and called his bluff. In the end, Cutler James secured the victory, looking the most polished and well-rounded of the group. It was no surprise that he was chosen as BJ Ray’s replacement. Bubba saw him as the standout performer, though BJ, despite their shared history, disagreed.
The show then moved straight into promo class with “Road Dogg.” He taught the Future Greats the art of cutting a promo, sharing valuable insights. The contestants then paired up to go head-to-head in promo battles. Some exchanges were more intense than others, particularly between Shiloh Hill and Chris Island. Dani Sekelsky and Penina Tuilaepa also had a killer back and forth. Anthony Luke went straight to the jugular calling Drake Morreaux out, who is dating Roxanne Perez. He responded back pointing out that Roxanne has been more successful than Anthony’s girlfriend, Maxxine Dupri.
As the coaches prepared their Future Greats for their matches, Mickie James brought out Michelle McCool. Apparently, The Undertaker had no idea she was coming, and his reaction showed little enthusiasm—likely because she was assisting Mickie instead of him. Michelle worked with Dani, teaching her The Undertaker’s Hell’s Gate finisher. Out of respect, she had Dani ask him for permission to use the move. He seemed hesitant at first because of her inexperience, but ultimately gave her the blessing.
At the end of the matches, the coaches gave their selections for the standouts of the week. The Undertaker felt Shiloh was improving significantly and was disappointed he couldn’t fully showcase his progress. Bubba Ray was proud of Drake Morreaux for confidently showcasing his personality. Road Dogg was very impressed by Anthony Luke’s performance. Michelle McCool was especially impressed with the women. Ultimately, the coaches selected Dani Sekelsky from Team Mickie and Anthony Luke from Team Booker T.
The point breakdown is now as follows:
- Team Booker: 2 Points
- Team Mickie: 2 Points
- Team Undertaker: 0 Points
- Team Bubba Ray: 0 Points
The Matches on Episode 3
Josh Black & Drake Starks vs. Chase Hatch & Cutler James
Bubba was initially impressed with Josh Black, while Mickie naturally gravitated toward Chase—partly because he wore a cowboy hat and came out in chaps. Chase, one of the newer NIL talents, played as an H-Back/Fullback for Arizona State University.
Cutler James, a former teammate of BJ Ray at Duke University, was Chase’s partner. He actually debuted recently in WWE NXT as part of a new faction drawing comparisons to The Shield. Once the match began, Black’s inexperience became evident. Despite his early promise, he was still very green and had a lot to learn.
Cutler and BJ had a history. Cutler revealed that they had clashed at the Performance Center and claimed BJ slacked off when they were on the wrestling team together. While BJ wanted Drake Starks as his replacement, Bubba overruled him.
The rest of the show featured matches and key moments where Legends stepped in to coach the contestants, offering valuable advice that will guide them as they advance in their careers.
Shiloh Hill vs. Chris Island
Shiloh was excited to take the lead in his match with Chris. The action started off slow but gradually picked up, allowing Chris to showcase his amateur wrestling skills. Momentum quickly shifted in Shiloh’s favor as he went on a tear. “Road Dogg” noted that he wanted to see more space created between them.
Mid-match, as Chris was getting up from the ground, he delivered a kick to the back of Shiloh’s head, knocking him out cold and abruptly ending the match. WWE medical staff immediately stepped in. Although Shiloh wanted to continue, they refused to clear him. Mickie took it upon herself to teach Chris the importance of etiquette and respect for an opponent, especially when injuries occur.
Dani Sekelsky vs. Penina Tuilaepa
Penina came out as the heel, while Dani, as expected, played the unintimidating babyface. Both roles suited their presentations perfectly. It was a very good match, with both competitors showing solid progress in the ring. Michelle enjoyed the match, and so did The Undertaker, although he was nervous watching the submission play out. He wanted to see Penina work for it and take a bump, as well as see Dani overcome the size difference more. Booker wasn’t too happy with the fact that Penina didn’t attempt a single pin. However, we saw Dani lock in the Hell’s Gate submission to secure the win.
Drake Morreaux vs. Anthony Luke
Roxanne Perez came out to support her boyfriend, and before heading to the ring, Anthony trashed-talked Drake a bit. His character is coming together nicely, showing definite shades of The Rock. As the heel, he showcased the techniques Booker had taught him.
Drake, on the other hand, was nervous ahead of his match. However, his personality and dance moves shone during his entrance, a refreshing change since he had been quite reserved so far in the competition. He carried that energy throughout the match, dancing between moves. Road Dogg, however, felt it was a bit too much. In the end, Drake emerged victorious.
