The UFC returns to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey this Saturday, June 7, with an action-packed UFC 316 lineup. Headlining the card is an explosive rematch, as reigning bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili defends his title against former champ Sean O’Malley.

While the main event promises fireworks, fans shouldn’t sleep on the stacked prelims—especially the chaotic welterweight clash between knockout artists Khaos Williams and Andreas Gustafsson.

A Welterweight Slugfest

Detroit’s Khaos Williams (15-4) looks to bounce back after a tough submission loss to Gabriel Bonfim in February. Standing in his way is Sweden’s Andreas Gustafsson (11-2), a dangerous UFC newcomer making his debut. Their welterweight clash is set to kick off the UFC 316 prelims.

Williams, 31, will be looking to make a statement come Saturday after snapping his two-fight win streak. The always-entertaining welterweight has earned the title of fan-favorite in large part due to his jaw-dropping knockout power. Williams prefers to keep the fight standing, throwing emphatic haymakers. He has a preferred fight style. His highlight-reel finishes have earned him four Performance of the Night bonuses. These accomplishments occurred in his nine UFC appearances. The devastating power-puncher holds seven knockout wins. Six of those knockouts came in the first round. Williams has a chance to remind fans why he became a fan-favorite in the first place.

Gustaffson, 34, makes his official UFC debut. His debut follows an impressive second-round TKO victory on Dana White’s Contender Series back in August. The older and less experienced welterweight faces a daunting task in the always-dangerous Williams. That said, the Contender Series alum enters this amazing stylistic fight, posing a threat to knock out his opponent. Gustaffson, like Williams, brings a formidable finishing ability to the cage—having racked up eight knockouts throughout his professional career. The Swedish welterweight is currently riding the momentum of a three-fight knockout streak. He has an opportunity to put fans on notice with a potential finish over Williams.

This welterweight clash holds all the ingredients perfect for a Fight of the Night contender. They prefer to keep the fight standing and trade massive punches. This will make it a treat for all viewers.
