Don’t Sleep on Lone’er Kavanagh vs. Felipe dos Santos
The UFC heads to London, England, this Saturday, March 22, with a stacked UFC Fight Night 255 card. In the main event, former welterweight champion and No. 1-ranked Leon Edwards takes on No. 5-ranked Sean Brady. But don’t overlook the prelims—an exciting flyweight clash goes down between Lone’er Kavanagh and Felipe dos Santos.
Flyweight Fireworks on Tap
London’s own undefeated prospect, Lone’er Kavanagh (8-0-0), looks to keep his perfect record intact as he takes on Brazil’s Felipe dos Santos (8-2-0, 1NC). This bout is the second-to-last fight on the preliminary card.
Kavanagh, 25, makes his second UFC appearance after edging out then-undefeated Jose Ochoa via unanimous decision in November 2024. Known for his entertaining, striking-heavy approach, Kavanagh prefers to keep the fight standing and hunt for knockouts—five of his eight wins have come via KO/TKO. Technically, he’s riding a ten-fight win streak, including his last two amateur bouts. Now, he faces what is likely his toughest challenge yet in the versatile Brazilian.
Felipe, 24, enters this matchup as the younger, larger, and more experienced fighter. With three UFC fights under his belt, he has struggled to find consistency, holding a 1-2 record in the promotion. He made his debut on short notice against elite contender Manel Kape at UFC 293 in September 2023. He put on an impressive performance despite a unanimous decision loss—a showing that earned him Fight of the Night honors. He rebounded with a split-decision win over Victor Altamirano in February 2024 before falling to fellow undefeated Brazilian Andre Lima in September, where his superior striking wasn’t enough to overcome Lima’s grappling advantage.
This flyweight showdown has all the makings of a Fight of the Night contender. Both young and highly skilled, expect an all-action striking battle from start to finish.
