FirePower 3: Magnum Force Results
FirePower 3: Magnum Force put on another great show in Sacramento, California. There were a number of fights that fell through on this card for various reasons, the most bizarre was an injury that occurred to one of the fighters during their warm ups. But that would not dampen the mood, as there was still plenty of excitement in the fights that did happen.
3 of the 5 fights on the card were finishes, all of which were KO/TKO finishes. The night ended with a potential Regional Fight of the Year candidate in the main event. In the card’s headliner we saw the return of Trey Williams after an extended layoff, and TUF 29’s Aaron Phillips.
There was some drama at the weigh-ins, as the main event was originally scheduled to be a middleweight bout. Thankfully the fight still happened, and what a fantastic main-event match up it was with both fighters having their moments of success throughout the 3 rounds.
What held true throughout, Aaron Phillips was able to regain control of the fight when Trey Williams had his moments. Even when in dangerous situations, Phillips seemed calm and comfortable, and was able to turn the tide in his favor. Since his time on The Ultimate Fighter, Phillips has moved to Texas to train under the Gracie Barra gyms in/around Houston. He looked like a whole new fighter on fight night now that he had a full fight camp and gym behind him. The future is certainly bright for the TUF alum…
