Joe Hendry wants to defend TNA World Championship against WWE Legend
After winning the TNA World Championship against Nic Nemeth at TNA Genesis, Joe Hendry has found himself in the headlines once again.
The newly crowned champion recently made an appearance on Busted Open Radio, where he left co-hosts Bully Ray and Mark Henry in awe after a surprise callout. Bully Ray asked Hendry who he was looking over his shoulder at after just winning the belt. Hendry took his opportunity to call out the 16x WWE World Champion, John Cena. The TNA Champion would extend the invitation for Cena to TNA, stating:
“To invite John Cena to cross the line into TNA wrestling is the most exciting matchup, and it’s my job as champion to bring as many eyeballs to TNA wrestling as possible.”
Henry and Ray were not only shocked by Joe’s answer. They were also incredibly impressed by the boldness of the new champion. Hendry went on to detail a story of Cena and 15-year-old Hendry speaking over the phone at a fan meet-and-greet. Hilariously enough, Cena held up a line for 5 minutes to speak to Joe on his friend’s phone. Hendry would also emphasize the following:
“He was the first wrestler I ever spoke to. And to me, I feel that’s the story I need to finish, facing John Cena. And why not? Let’s do it for this (TNA) championship.”
In what would’ve already been a mouthwatering matchup, Hendry has now elevated it to must-see. Even when addressing the courage of his conviction regarding Cena, Hendry went on to say that, “he learned a thing or two about Chael Sonnen.”
How can you not love this guy?
To make matters more interesting, John Cena recently uploaded a photo on Instagram displaying the WWE & TNA logos. A post that left people speculating in the comment section. And if there’s one thing we know about John Cena; his Instagram posts always seem to carry a deeper meaning. Never in people’s wildest dreams would they have thought this match would be possible. But as they say, anything can happen in the world of professional wrestling…
